Coloured Gems Beside Each Party Member's Name

As the title states, really. I've been combing the wiki for a good long while now but can't find any reference to what they are for? Mine is orangish-red and the rest of my party's are green. I know it's a total noob question but it's just really been bothering me lately that I have no idea what they represent

These gems indicate your threat level. In combat, the higher the threat level is, the more likely a character gets attacked. Outside of combat the gems retain the threat value, but it does nothing at all. It resets as soon as you enter combat again.

Thanks so much. I had thought they were something to do with status effects, but that makes good sense.
