Not sure if Barney is a reasonable source of information. He could easily be overhyping or outright lying about how dangerous the portal is. And even then, there are probably ways to control it that don't involve human sacrifice and world domination sex death cults.
As intended. I think the devs never intended the family issues to be resolved in game, save for bringing Gweyr back home.
Gwyn's electra complex is a core part of her character definition. That sort of stuff doen't get resolved in a couple of months. Sometimes it never is.
She's just a small npc in the starter town.
Garth might simply have to come to terms that the family will grow old and Gwyn will STILL be going on about her "daddy". She ain't ever getting married to anyone. At most she'll raise her pups into adulthood (dunno how the kids would react to mom gushing about how she romantically loves grandpa). That's it.
It probably will, just not within the timeframe of the storys canon. Like this is one of those "i can powerbomb a fucking dragon but, fixing your family problems are too much".
I was thinking the same thing. have it be mentioned in the epilogue. might not be able to fix it ourselves, but everyone deserves a happy ending!
"Years on, Garret marries off the family and moves from Hawkethorne. A decade later both Garth and Gweyr pass on due to illnesses from old age. Gwyn is left alone with her pups and no daddy to venerate."
