Wyvern Egg Encounter Rate?

Checking my save file, I have a Wyvern Birth, but no kids so I’m guessing the eggs hasn’t hatched yet. The problem is, I can’t seem to get the event to proc. Do I have to be present around the birthing to get it or is it completely random? I really would like to add a Wyvern to my Nursery.

To get the kid at the nursery you have to find the wyvern girl in the foothills after she's laid the egg and before it's hatched. There's a special scene for it.

Helps to spend a lot of time fucking wyvern girls and wanderimg the Foothills. I have more than a few at the Nursery.
