Isn't it just that it hasn't been written in yet? Everyone should be fertile, unless otherwise stated, and the pregnancy code itself might not be in yet while the scenes for others getting pregnant can be difficult to write.

From the Wiki, Pregnancy - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
Human, Ausar, and Kathirit Characters that you can get pregnant:
Ilaria - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
Stella - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
Tam - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
Sam - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
Sera - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
Human and Ausar Characters that can get you pregnant:
Sera - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki (Again)
Zephyr - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
Riya - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki
RK Lah - Trials in Tainted Space Wiki

Doesn't know who or what can make you pregnant in game already, proceeds to storyboard pregnancy content.

:catstare:

RK Lah can give Steele an Ausar pregnancy.
Sera, Riya, Zephyr and Sydians can give Steele human pregnancies. IMO the game has enough human pregnancies unless you're going to write unique ones for Burt, Geoff or that Doctor that makes the Orange Myr pills.
There are currently no Kathrit pregnancies in game because no one has written one and to be honest, unless it's from Kase, I don't really care.

Nono, this is a scientist who spends her time testing the interfertility of species with her Ausar assistant, most notably, in situations with a half Kathirit like herself collecting genomic data and sequencing it for the sake of science. She has a fairly whacky hypothesis about some form of precursor galactic civilization, and how all the sentient races are just tainted versions of this ancient race.

Remember, humans and chimpanzees, which evolved on the same planet, and share 95% of their genes, cannot interbreed, yet strangely, the creatures across the galaxy can.

The problem is that this is something that was likely done several hundred years before the events of the game take place. Horny scientists worked tirelessly to make interbreeding standard. If not that, it's a necessary handwave for the people who want that sort of content to be able to enjoy it, and characters that point that sort of thing tend to break immersion and suspension of disbelief.

The most holiest of grounds
I've chalked it up to it initially being standardized injections at birth like vaccines that modify gametes of species and make it possible for interbreeding that also results in fertile offspring. This was done to smooth over inter-species relationships and create a piece of common ground so that aliens don't feel that alien and that less conflicts break out due to people believing that they are too different to coexist peacefully. One of the greatest unifying forces between two tribes is for the different heirs to have children, or so they say. The specifically programmed nanomachines that can change people was a coverup to hide the first little buggers from being discovered and to continue funding their endeavors. A haystack with a needle in it that pays for more needles in more haystacks, so to speak.

Eventually the industry became too expensive and they needed a way to automate and cheapify the process, resulting in the things becoming airborne and capable of automatically reproducing themselves. This has resulted in anything that was in an atmosphere with or near U.G.C territory citizens becoming capable of inter-species reproduction. The rush was a media and culturally-promoted way for the airborne nanites to propagate throughout the galaxy, further spreading and blurring the lines between species as all become compatible with one another. Eventually creating peace between all peoples as the tainted space that is U.G.C territory spreads

The true goal of all this? Total galactic control. Once all species have made peace with each other they'll unite everyone under one rule, for better or worse. Perhaps it is to face a threat greater than anything inside the galaxy can individually face, or maybe it is to enslave everyone so that those at the top can simply become more powerful as time goes on. And with advancements in the medical industry that counteracts the aging process they'll eventually be immortal, forever in power, forever their rule absolute.

Or maybe I'm just crazy. Who knows?! HAHAHahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... *coughs*

My personal take is humans are the eevees of space - their genetics are naturally capable of reproducing with a wider array of xenos than most other species.
