Wiki down?

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but since there's no thread dedicated to the wiki itself I figured this would be as good a place as any. Anyways, for the past couple of days I haven't been able to access the wiki. All I get is the following:

The connection has timed out

The server at wiki.smutosaur.us is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Every. Single. Time.

It isn't on my end, since every other website I go to works fine. So unless something really weird and isolated is happening, I'm guessing the wiki is in fact down.

Have you made sure that your browser is accepting https connections? The wiki is secured. That's the first thing that comes to mind, especially since it's opening just fine for me.

It opens fine for me too atm. You may need to look for browser setting. Or it's some modem/router issues but less likely than something set up in your brower incorrectly.

Considering that this:

and more pointedly this:

https://forum.fenoxo.com/threads/wiki-down.9351/
still work, I'd say that's not the issue. It still isn't working for me though, and it's really starting to bug me now that I know it's apparently not a universal issue. I'm using the wiki link directly from the main fenoxo website, same as I always have. I'm not doing anything different, and I even have specific subpages in my browser history that simply don't work anymore.

Have you tried manually inputting the address or searching for it? BTW I don't appreciate the harsh response to troubleshooting techniques, which by their very nature should include looking at the silly mistakes and often overlooked.

Try a different browser.

My apologies, the harsh response wasn't directed at anyone, it was merely meant to emphasize my frustration with the situation. Also, yes, I did try that.

Try a different browser.
I also tried that. Neither worked.

Extra info: I didn't alter my browser in any way before this happened, so that shouldn't be the issue. The site itself has been on my favorites bar for a while, and it was that which I used when I first noticed the issue. And when I recently checked the security of the page it said "Connection is Not Secure" in bold red letters, while under the Security tab, it says:

Website Identity
Website: wiki.smutosaur.us
Owner: This website does not supply ownership information.
Verified by: Not specified
Privacy & History
Have I visited this website prior to today? No
Is this website storing information (cookies) on my computer? No
Have I saved any passwords for this website? No
Technical Details
Connection Not Encrypted
The website wiki.smutosaur.us does not support encryption for the page you are viewing. Information sent over the internet without encryption can be seen by other people while it is in transit.
Which is of course freaking me out, all things considered.

Try typing without http or www or anything before the word wiki.
Try Edge.
Try a phone.
Try a different computer.
Try a proxy.
Try a VPN.
Try reinstalling Windows.

No, that would cause problems. I know because I have a degree in System32.

New Try typing without http or www or anything before the word wiki.
One of the first things I did.

Try Edge.
?

Try a phone.
I have a basic talk & text flip phone.

Try a different computer.
I just have the one, and I'm not gonna do this on someone else's.

Try reinstalling Windows.
Okay, that's a troll.

Flush DNS resolver cache, refresh page.

Try this to settle your paranoia.

http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
Did the first, and did the second two different ways. It came up with the following when just typing the site, without the "https":

So it works when not checking encryption, but I got this when I typed it in with the https:

It's not just you! http://https looks down from here.
So apparently that site doesn't work correctly when checking encrypted pages.

Edit: And no, I didn't just accidentally overwrite what was typed by adding it, I made sure to type the whole thing over again. It just doesn't register anything other than letters and periods, which is probably why it automatically adds the http:// prefix to everything.

He wasn't butthurt @RanmaChan . Cpt. was merely bi-furious back there.

@stephen51991 Does tons of tips and hints helped you to access wiki or it's still showing as unaccesable for you?

You didn't try a proxy or VPN.

Vpn works. Apparently Captain Shitpost wasn't shitposting. That said, I still needed to download and install an entirely new browser and use a vpn just to access a single wiki for a smut game. I'm really hoping that this is a fixable/temporary thing.

Have you recently updated your windows or anything else that you can think of? This sounds like a security update or perhaps a corrupted certificate.
I suggest checking out the possibilities on this page.
https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Fix-...connection-is-not-secure-quot-mean/ta-p/30354
I discovered this by trying to get to the wikisaurus with it's IP address which I resolved to be: 94.23.47.32
I ended up on a "connection not secure page" much like you did. I would also suggest trying a manual DNS.

One of the things being pushed out by most modern browsers lately is throwing a warning when you are not connecting by https. However, as far as I know none of them will actively fail dns resolution/time out without at least telling you why.

Some good alternative DNS providers: Google DNS (8.8.8.8 , 8.8.8.7) Open DNS (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220)

@OnyxDrakkenblade I checked the website, but there's nothing there that matches my issue. See the opening post for the details on the message I get when I try to access the site.

@null_blank I've tried the manual DNS thing already, it didn't work. And I use Firefox, but the only thing it tells me is what I already posted above.

Taking too long to respond errors can be ANYTHING that slows your communications down for that site. That's WAY to big in scope for a simple resolution.
I suggest talking to these guys, as they are the underlying site for smutosaur.us.

I'm off to bed so good luck.

You didn't try Edge either. Shouldn't need to use a different browser if you're already using a VPN anyway. A proxy website should be enough anyway.

@noobsaleh Edge is the new default explorer right? Yes, I did try that. I said as much earlier. At this point I'm considering just giving up and waiting for the issue to resolve itself.

Ctrl+F "Edge": No, you didn't say as much earlier.

Sorry it's not working out for you.

Man I can imagine how hard it would be to deal with some of the things in the game without the wiki, for someone like me. I wonder if there are any OTHER resources for TiTS. Maybe Shark's Lagoon? Their "All Sexy Games" and "Hints and Walkthroughs" might have some info. But I don't doubt that would be a lot like panning for gold.

@noobsaleh Yes... Yes I did.

#15 Lancer, Saturday at 5:36 PM
@Lancer Oh, in that case no, it didn't work.

#18 stephen51991, Saturday at 8:11 PM

@OnyxDrakkenblade I know right? I'm the kinda guy who plans out the optimal route in games, and restarts if even the slightest thing goes wrong that can't be fixed by rolling back to an earlier save. Wiki is love, Wiki is life. If worst comes to worst, I'll just keep using the vpn to access it until this whole issue resolves itself.

@stephen51991 Yeah, I'm a somewhat reformed member of the same clan as you. I have done things exactly the way that you describe. I've come to a place where I've let some chaos into it. Makes me more sane on the other side of completion. I will, however, always be a researcher :p
