White Mage Build?

I'm just curious what kind of companion/ability combinations are good for white mages. Do you run a pure healer, or something more shield-focused? What about a battle healer with charge weapon?

The closest I've ever built to a White Mage is my Salamander Warrior that I made into something reminiscent of a Paladin/Battle-Cleric.
49 Attack Power, 52 Spell Power, 156 Armor, 52 Focus and overall high resistances (with the weakest being Fire and Holy at 25)
Guarded Stance, White Fire, Vanguard, Smite Evil and Unbreakable.

for companions he used to run Cait and Kiyoko, though with the recent patches Cait's taken to the bench for a while in favor of Etheryn, whose healing options are not only better than Cait's but her Blessing spell also makes my build into an incredibly potent boss-killer on par with any rogue. xD

I guess I go with battle healer? I give em a nice big sword but the skills do stay more support based I guess, as I use heal, white fire, group heal, smite evil and revive, I go with Brint and Ryn but I'm not really thinking with strategy brain but more on which companions I like tbt, it somehow works tho

I'd say Sword&Board with the Sanctified Gladius (can we pls get a better 1h weapon for this already? xD) or two-handed with the Spiralled Sword (until you get the War Scythe) would be the way to go for a battle-cleric build such as mine. I use the Sword&Board because I'm using Kiyoko as my nuker, but you could always swap her out for tugs or brint and go all out attack mode with the War Scythe if you want to.

I actually made my White Mage into more of an archer on a whim (going for an early Final Fantasy-esque build) and it's worked surprisingly well. Depending on whether my companions already provide extensive healing options I alternate Frost Arrow (via yoinking Hethia's bow) and Heal for the At-Will, then use whatever mix of Blessing, Shield of Light and various archery Powers seem appropriate to the current party for my Recharge slots. I've left Spirit Veil as their Encounter skill but occasionally swap it with Summon Phyria if Ryn or Berwyn isn't in the party to provide a summon.

I've also used the wonderful combo of Charge Weapon and Smite Evil on my Warrior to make them a quasi-Paladin, but that's not a strict WM build per se.

I actually like white mages over black mages for damage. White Fire is consistently good damage and Smite is some good spike damage. Even Chilling Winds (I feel like it's called something else but I haven't played in a while) is decent on the damage front. Going support is helpful for boss fights but a white mage's spread of damage options will clear out most mob enemies.

I played a pure healer, mostly with Atugia and whoever else I felt like.
I also played a White mage put in heavy armor, Spirale sword and mostly offensive stuff, going with Cait and Atugia/Brint/Brienne.

Currently thinking of making a White/Black Mage hybrid. Not sure who I take, kinda hard to not take the only healer though. ^^'
Maybe I will turn him into an Inquisitor or so..
Any power idea are welcome.. :D

For my mage build I go with Summon flame spirit from the dark mage, always useful, Bolstering Dance from the charmer to not lose against enemies with high mental damage, Entropic Winds and White fire from white mage for magical damage and Revive for the ultimate. The basic heal from the white mage is also really good but with Cait on the team I don't think it's necessary.

There are two main white mage builds I use:

First is the party support specialist. Take group heal and the charmer stance that heals resolve (can swap to heal if you know the fight doesn't deal resolve damage), and song of storms. Attributes to focus on are willpower, agility, and presence. Basically you heal up the party whenever they take health/resolve damage, and use song of storms to give a party member a huge damage upgrade. The party becomes pretty much self-sufficient, so you never have to stop and rest if you don't feel like it.

The other is the self-sufficient build. You take heal, the black mage resolve drain spell, fireball, wear a shield, and focus in agility, willpower, and whatever else you feel like for the third stat. This one you don't especially care if you party kicks the bucket, because you can deal with pretty much any fight solo. You still can support them with heal, but come what may you can handle it.
