Unable to change scale colour after receiving them

After first using cinderleaf, my scale colour was locked to red. After removing all hints of previous TF's (spamming Root of Man until no results), using scale salve or Frostleaf still adds red scales. Skin colour TF's change skin colour, not scales. The only way I've found to change scale colour is to change my Character's gender preference to female, then use scale salve again. Now the colour is hard locked to black, and now not even that will change the results of any scale TF's. Optimally I would think Cinderleaf would change your colour to red, Frostleaf to blue, and scale salve to the specified colours already in place.

Unsure if this qualifies as a bug fix, but I would like some method to change scale colour reliably. I'm on the current steam patch (Aug 18th).

The way at least most TFs work is that the color tag stays with a character, even if you remove the scales. Tested it with Brute Beet and some others too. And the thing is that Scale Salve for male characters and Cinderleaf only change your characters scale color if it doesn't already have the scale color tag that these 2 TF items offer.
You were able to change your characters scale color by changing its gender preference to female because the color palette (red isn't part of it anymore) for females isn't the same as for males when using Scale Salve.

What I however was unable to reproduce was that you couldn't change your characters scale colors via Frostleaf. Tested it by directly changing scale color from one to the other and by first turning human again after spamming Root of Man and then using Frostleaf. Version 0.4.11. by the way.
