Animated scanlines are extremely inefficient and they cause high power consumption on lower end android phones.
I had to try out a bunch of different options before finally figuring out that my phone was getting hot due to the animated scanlines. They are unimportant to gameplay and only add a bit of visual flair which isn't worth the huge increase in power consumption for mobile phones.
