Howdy, I've enjoyed the game a great deal, and I've wanted to make a summoner a while. What's everyone's thoughts? Berwyns ult seems to make summoners nearly obsolete, but I feel like the unique summons and min maxing presence could do some miracle work. In your opinions, what do you think is a better plan, a black mage, who summons then deals damage afterward, or a white mage, who summons then heals afterward? I'm sure you could do both just fine, but maxing presence does impact white mage less, I feel, with less stats reliance and more abilities with preset amounts and less focus on agility for accuracy. Warriors and thieves also could be a option but I feel like the simplest and most effective would be the mages to minimize what you have to give up. Feel free to share experiences. Ty for your time.

Charmers actually make the best summoners by default because of their boost to Presence and that reinforces the majority of their class skills as well. The Leadership effect of Presence also makes your allies more effective so you can easily turn a summoning Charmer into a primarily supporting role and let your companions and summon do the heavy lifting or you can spec them for Resolve or magical damage.

If you have a particular mix of companions you like keeping in your party, consider what will synergize best with them. For example, if you have Priestess/Witch!Cait or Queenly!Ryn you probably don't need a second support caster and if you have Bimbazzy you really don't need any more Resolve nuking, so build your remaining Powers around filling in gaps that the companions aren't covering.
