For once, I stepped down of the Smuggler line and gave the Tech Specialist job a try. I remember seeing a while ago a thread with the best set of perks-weapon for each class, but it's lots in a sea of dead threads. It must be outdated anyways, so I'm asking if anyone of your can give me a clue with:

-The best set of perks for a Tech Spec. with focus on ranged attacks and shields.
-Based on the same set, the best melee and ranged weapons, the best armor available, and if possible, the best underwear. (Though I guess that the latter is taken by the thermal underwear).

Eh....

Do you want to go Melee Tech Specialist or Ranged Tech Specialist?

Ranged, to be exact: "focus on ranged attacks", but I'd like to hear suggerences about which melee weapons are a decent support for Ranged builds, either for the evasion/sexyiness boosts or because they work good in tandem, even without perk-boosting.

Well one of the uveto laser rifles and khan arc caster are still the best.

The drone or shield thing is down to preference now that the dps of drones is actually good.

The fur bra is an upper garnet with resists.
Armstrong suits has shields. And sexiness.
Gravity distortion boost defence.

I don't really remember more off the top of my head.

Shield Booster, Overcharge, Gun Tweaks and Second shot pretty much go without saying.
Deflector regeneration has a far higher yield than power surge, but split over 4 rounds. Its generally a matter of personal preference.
Gravidic Disruptor
Charged Shield and Shield Hack are both horrible. Charged Shield only affects opponents that attack in melee, and for a rather petty amount of damage and a one round blind. Shield Hack is really only good for opponents with high evasion and/or combat crap tied to shields still being up.
Drone Control and Deadly Shock are both useless. Your choice here will not affect your combat ability in the slightest.
Boosted Charges turns Gravidic Disruptor into a good defensive buff versus kinetic using opponents. So take it.

Ranged weapon: Khan's Arc Caster (shock), Black Light Rifle (fire), the fire extinguisher Shekka sells (frost)
Melee weapon: Emmy's Lava Saber (shields), Hardlight Dagger (evasion)
Armor: Grey Goo Armor(airtight, sexy), Weavemail Coat (resists)
Shield: Reaper Shield
Underwear: Hardlight Bra, Hardlight Thong/Jock (sexy), Thermal Undies (resists)
Accessory: Light Jetpack or Explorer's Cloak - Drones are not worth using

Thanks, that's pretty useful. From the novelty perks I'll pick Charged Shield and Deadly shock, and from underwear, the Thermal one and something else for the top, since I hate anything with Hardlight (yes, even the Dagger). There's an awful lack of male underwear on the game. For armor, I'll stick with the coat.

So, for melee, neither the axe from Uveto, or the Monofilament Saber are good enough?

@Zevos I beg to differ about the uselessness of Drone Control. If you've got max intelligence it will give a damage boost of 13 to your drones, which is decent. I would also say the Tomahawk from Uveto is much better than the Lava Saber.

I'm not really considering the melee as a source of damage. Really, the only time you'll want a half decent melee weapon is for Kane bossfight. The two i mentioned are the best buffsticks we currently have, and are sufficient for Kane fight.

What Lancer said, but also, doesn't Charge Shield blind ranged attackers?
I'm pretty sure that when it was changed to not require you to target a enemy on use, it was also changed to only affect melee attackers.

I think that it only work if they hit you first, and even if, it's under a 50-33% chance.

Ah, and having the drone late perk it's useless unless you have a drone equipped (thus using the accesory slot) or had chosen the drone early perk, which isn't my case.

Whilst I'm rather fond of techies after the recent rework, I'm still holding out on the hope that the psyker class turns out to be good.

With TamWolf 2.0, it actually does a pretty neat amount of damage to anything that doesn't have high kinetic resistances. Usually see about 30-42ish damage depending. With reaper shield and Armstrong omnisuit, shields are still around 150 or so, which is still really good.

As much as I love the tech class, the moment the psi class shows up, I'm switching. Even if tech become the new mercs and the mind class is trash, I WILL become a S̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶L̶o̶r̶d̶ Jedi.

...Class better get a force choke.

force choke the chicken amright.

ehem.

Also Grey Jedi is the best of the more commonly known groups of force users. The sith are just idiots and the jedi are idiots in the opposite direction that at least have the decency to not actively strive to be dicks.

That said, in case that I wanted to pick a drone, the upgraded Tam-wolf would be the best choice, then? But it'll still require the perks to be usable.

Besides drones, who are the best accessories? For Smugglers, it surely was the Jetpack.

There arn't any shield boosting accessories, so it pretty much comes down to the Jetpack.

If you are going Drone Tech then Tam-wolf is best for dmg, Shiegulfie is best for lust dmg.

Don't forget to upgrade Tam-Wolf tho.

Since Seigwulf was brought up and we're on the topic of Tech Specialists, wouldn't the best route for a TS be to go bimbo? Instead of investing in Intelligence, one could instead focus on Willpower and take advantage of the Libido replacement Bimbo Techies get.

Gemstone Links, Hardlight Bra, Hardlight Thong, Bimbowulfe, Calvery Sabre
Go shield line. Other perks don't matter because they'll be useless pretty much useless you're fighting something lust immune.
Bimbowulfe, alongside the distinction of being the only worthwile drone, also has the distinction of being the sole drone not affected by tech drone perks.

Also, i'm seething at the reminder that bimbos can use substitute lust for intelligence. This is an abomination. It should not be a thing. If you want to be a bimbo, than maybe you should play something other than the class that uses brains and sound judgement to get ahead, for damn sake. I mean, seriously. If you bimbo your tech, then you should be left with a shit character. I have no idea why Fen caved to this chorus that bimbo techs should get something in exchange for their self respect.

it doesn't help that there isn't any way to get out of being a bimbo and there are ways to get bimbo'd that one can't really avoid without prior knowledge.

Perhaps non-treatment bimbofication methods should give techs a bad end, or a scenario where they spend a few hundred days retraining as a different class. Something to illustrate how badly you fucked up even further.
