After finishing the content for my last champaign of a pure warrior build I thought I should try mixing in magic dps since there's a lot of enemies with big resistance towards normal attacks. So why no try again with martial skills and magic!

Hey, so can you give me a bit more description on what kind of a build you want, cause there is a large amount of ways you can mix mage and warrior.

I'll give you one build I used: it's a tank that does a lot of AoE damage but doesn't quite have good dps.

First start as the Warrior for it's perks. Max Toughness, Willpower and Presence. Drink the Agility Juice. When you have the money buy one of the ranged wands from Ivris. Use the wand and a shield of your choice, I prefer the Tower Shield. Use whatever armor you like but make sure to buy "Belt with a pouch" from Nelia and use whatever items give you Initiative.

As for abilities: at first use Guarded Stance, Crackle Powder (learnable from Leorah after finishing her quest), Lightning Spike, and either Flame Spirit or Wolf Spirit (learned from Viviane). When you hit Level 6 change Guarded Stance for Armored Stance. After you do the Fox Den change Lightning Spike for Arc Cannon and later when you make it to Khor'minos change Arc Cannon for Leaping Bolts. After you enter the Temple of Fire you can also upgrade the Fire Spirit to the
Fire Knight which is a lot better.

I was thinking about something more dps oriented. I've been a bit frustrated by the fact of enemies who were highly resistant to normal damage, but was weak to magic damage when I didn't have companions who could compensate.

Hmmm, then idk how much I can help. There are Dps Mage spells in game but most of them are really late into the game unless you want to Save Edit yourself abilities like Holy Shock. In this game it's almost always better to kill your enemies before they can act.

Still here's a build:

Play Warrior.

Max Strength, Toughness, Willpower. Drink Agility Juice. Use whatever one handed weapon you prefer tbh. A shield and heavy armor.

Get Flamebrand and Song of Storms, Warcry and Thunderstrike. When Level 4 change Warcry for Vanguard and Thunderstrike for Dastardly Trick. When Level 6 change Dastardly Trick for Deadly Shadow. When you get to Khor'minos buy Powerwave Tome and Flametongue Blade. Change your build to: Charge Weapon, Powerwave, Vanguard, Deadly Shadow for a Dps build.

You can also instead choose to buy a Tome of Thunderbrand (upgraded Flamebrand) with a build of: Thunderbrand, Primal Scar, Celestial Smite and Bull Rush. This build is more Bursty compared to the other one.

If you are still going for DPS, then I would pick either Warrior or White Mage. I would focus Strength, Agility, Willpower. I would have your At-Will be Charge weapon, one of your recharges be cleave, and the other recharge could be toxic shock, holy shock, power wave, reaping blade, etc etc.

Remember if a power has a [weapon] tag then it's affected by your weapon's stats. If your weapon has a [catalyst] tag then it affects spells with the [spell] tag not just spells with the [weapon] tag.
