Save files transfering

Hi, I'm fairly new to this game but already have an older version of the game than the current. How can I transfer save files to the new version? The forum has way too many posts and it's difficult finding the answer which I'm sure exists somewhere.

Thank you so much, would not have guessed it to be this easy. I honestly thought I would have to copy some files and paste them to new folders and etc.

My Google Fu is strong.

If you save edit your game files any, it would be wise to save a file to your desktop, then load it in the new version just to be safe. Generally, however, it's not needed.
