Old patch release style

Remember when Backer and Public patches were their own separate posts? Why did it change to the current mixed release post style?

IMO, it's more convenient to have the posts be their own things. Backers can get new content throughout the month, and then public players can get everything Backers got in a single monthly release.

With Dhaal now going public, we no longer had that power (at least not until we get to adding another new planet…) – but having the ability to do side-by-side releases whilst maintaining a difference in content has been nice. So now we have a system we can use to handle it in a more granular fashion.
Sounds like it was at least partially because convenience.

Personally, I prefer the new way. Public gets all the bugfixes and quality of life improvements.
It also means all content is Backers for a month, instead of between 1 month and not at all, which is probably an attractive proposal for the devs. More of an incentive to become a Backer, since it guarantees early access.
