(New) Tessa Quest Question

So for the new quest involving infiltrating the crazy hedonist space station, I searched the room that the heiress/princess was in after she's gone to the ship and it gave me a keycard. The question is...what does the keycard do? I couldn't find anything that changes after I get it.

Hmm... oh I see. I thought it didn't open the door to the final confrontation because the message that says I got the keycard only happens on the 2nd search, but the door lets me through if I just search once. Is this a bug?
