I have just reached Lethice's Stronghold. I fought and beat the doppelganger. In my key items inventory I see the laybans. But when I try to go North into the basilisk room, despite the text mentioning me holding the laybans in my hands, I always get a bad end if I proceed.
I have also checked and it doesn't appear to do anything with the basilisks I encounter at high mountain. Is there something I am missing?
