Hi everyone! I've been working on a furry dating sim called Kemono academy for a few months and have decided to put together a kickstarter in order to see if the funding can be reached so that I can hire aboard some extra help so that there's more people working on the project. If interested in these sort of games or you just enjoy helping out furry projects, please take a quick look over at the link below for more information about the project!

Maybe because most people use patreon? That's just a guess.
I would do patreon but most who choose that option have some sort of demo ready to pull in funding, I figure kickstarter would be better for this because for one if funding goal isn't reached there's no risk of losing your backer funds compared to patreon. Even if the goal for funding is reached there's possible refunding options if the creator decides to try running off, etc. Anyway that's how I look at things for this.

But would be hard to people back on kickstarter or any crowdfunding platform if you don't have nothing to show.

With kickstarter it's more expected that the project isn't actually underway yet and the expectation is that the pitch is well thought out and expansive beyond some two paragraph "we're totes going to make this thing for sure". That -is- a better idea than another Patreon link when someone's got all of a two minute demo with some proof of concept stuff slammed in there.

I've tried giving patreon a try but where I stand with this project on my own I have no demo to offer as of right now and I'm sure people would feel better about funding something that doesn't have a demo if there's the option that if the funding goal isn't reached they'll get their money back or later down the road still have the option to ask for refunds, etc. The funds are going towards being able to hire some extra help in order to get the game moving along further then what I can do alone.

Well, with kickstarter you have a limited time to get the quota but you can always open another, I guess...

Roundscape was a kickstarter that led into a patreon. That is definitely the way to go if you can't get started by yourself.

That, too. You only have to look through a few of these topics to realize how much people hate Patreon links when there's no working demo. If you absolutely need the money to get started then kickstarter is a decent way to go. That's what it's intended for.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Ass Effect.

But, It didn't matter back then. Most of the Kickstarter fatigue hadn't set in yet.

Sorry to say, but it neither looks or sounds good enough for an game with an 8,000 bugs goal. Better start an blog with regularly updates, then when you release an playable demo ,start an Patron page. Don't forget the regularly updates on Patreon for supporter and an more rarely news for non supporter an your blog or Patreon only. Don't forget to post an few pictures and information here and there, like hentai-foundry, furaffinity, the LoK forum and the fenoxo forum.

The worst thing is for many people is asking for money without an playable demo or anything to show your skills and ambition. Can we see some other works of you? Maybe even some sexy stuff to get an better and more detailed impression?

Also you could/should write the pairings and kinks your game will include in the first post.

I was thinking the same...

Eight thousand is pretty expensive for what it is, especially since (unless I'm reading it wrong), you're planning to charge $15 for it, which is pretty expensive for format it is in, and going off the more "upscale" erotic games which are pretty much at around $10.
