I somehow feel like Steph Irson was named that way, not because she's related to Steele, but because maybe, just maybe she's based off another nature enthusiast with a similar name.

I never noticed the "irons" thing about Shade though, nice find.
not mine somebody else said can't remember where though

If we ever read an episode of Galactic Huntress where Steph gets shivved in the heart by a fish, we'll know for sure.

HMMMM, let’s see...

Blonde hair, green khakis? Check.

Australian accent? Check.

Barrels straight into grabbing an animal/alien in its natural habitar? Quadruple Check!

She is definitely Rule 63 Porn AU Steve Irwin down to the name.

Doubt we’re ever gonna have anything remotely stingray-like interact with her because..... yeah. :(

Just feels too insensitive even after all these years, ya know? I know I’m still not over the incident that killed him...

The only two things we know about Steph's background are that she and her identical twin Natalie are from New Brisbane, and that their mother's name is Carrie. Since their father is never mentioned, the possibility exists that he's Victor, but the only possible point in favour of this is that both he and Steph are Planet Rushers who get mutated a lot. Then again, that logic (similarities imply relatives) only implies that Victor could be any of Steph's ancestors from the past ~200 years (except for presumably her mother).

A tangentially related thought: since we know that Steph mostly goes to the same planets as Steele, I can see that Steph being a Steele could be used as a plot point in the future.

And sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and not some subtle conspiracy amongst the writers to inject another pair of Steele half-siblings/distant into the game. In this instance, Steph Irson is simply a nod of the head to Steve Irwin and Steph's bad luck reflecting that Steve Irwin really took his life into his own hands when dealing with animals.
