Is Ryn helping in Dog Days not in the game anymore?

There is a new part of In Her Footsteps that seems to require completing Dog Days before fighting the Alarune so how would Etheryn be able to talk to the Elf in Dog Days then? Have not played in awhile not sure if this has already been discussed.

It's not. They made the decision to turn Dog Days into MSQ content because of how much stuff is gated behind it. Since it's now required to complete before you can access the Wayfort where you meet Ryn, her participation in the quest is gone.

It also cuts out that Hethia content that doesn't really fit with what the rest of the game establishes about boer'alvar attitudes toward half-sexed in general and what we learn about one of Ryn's grandmothers in particular (it contains echos of early-draft stuff that was later changed) so while we lose the ability to see her parley and the way her Confidence can affect that sequence, we also lost a lot of stuff that won't be missed and was probably easier to just cut than to rewrite wholesale.

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
