Not sure how you got negative Credits, but you can probably use the
Cheat Menu to get yourself back into the positives (100K at a time).
When you say 'manual saves', do you mean Slot saves or Save to File? Unfortunately, Slot saves are sometimes cleaned out automatically, and there's only so much the Devs can do about it. It's recommended you Save to File occasionally.
