IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is where you can chat with the community in realtime! It's pretty cool.
If you're super casual, you can just visit the Rizon Web Chat page. Enter a nickname, hit connect.
If you'd like to lurk around and "stay online", maybe you want a desktop IRC client instead. There are a great many of these!
HexChat is a straight forward, pretty easy to use one that gets the job done well. It also works on every OS. I will show you how to set it up.
Download it from their site and install it. It's available for every desktop Operating System.
When it starts, you should get a Network List dialogue like below. If not, you can find it in the HexChat menu at the top left.
One small point, if you would like to register your nickname, to make sure it is yours for keepsies on Rizon, you can follow their guide.
Once you have a password, go back to the Rizon configuration dialogue (you saw above), choose NICKSERV as Login method, put in your password, hit some OKs and reconnect.

When it starts, you should get a Network List dialogue like below. If not, you can find it in the HexChat menu at the top left.

- Replace "MyNick" in the above dialogue with your own unique nickname.
- The Second & Third choice needs to be slightly different. As you can see I've simply added an underscore or two, you can do the same.
- User name hardly matters. You can just enter your nickname again.
- Tick Skip network list on startup.
- Then scroll down the Networks list, select "Rizon", and click Edit.

- Tick Connect to this network automatically. That's it.
- Hit Close, and then Connect.

- You can see I've typed "/j #FenChat" it means 'join the #FenChat channel'. Do that and hit enter.
- Now you are in our channel! Start typing to talk to people! Don't piss off the ones with circles next to their names!

- See how I've right clicked on the #FenChat channel item on the left? Do that too, and tick Autojoin. Now whenever you open HexChat, you will be popped straight into the chat channel!
