How do I split a stack of items?

How do I split a stack of items? I have 5 x Linger Ember, but it only lets me sell all 5.
Also, is there a "best" vendor that buys your stuff for the best price?

I don't believe you can split a stack. As for your second question, pretty much every vendor buys stuff for the same half value price.
