How did you justify slavery for your character?

Like for acquiring Sera, feminizing Del, talking with Carver, all that stuff. I want to hear other people's takes and opinions! :3

Personally, I didn't, although a few of my characters have acquired Sera in the interest of "I hate to own someone, but at least this way she won't be in debt and can free if the fear of those Acquisitions folk messing with her body.".

My Steele understands that she was literally conceived to run a galaxy-spanning megacorp and that even as nice of a megacorp as Steele Tech is, there is very little she can do that is more evil that just claiming her birthright.

Personally I hate the concept of slavery for the game, but I made Sera a sub anyway. I did it because I found her to be extremely hot but I just could not stand her domming. I just didn't find it hot or appealing, so I made her sub for that reason. It wasn't so much about slavery as it was just about having Sera not be a complete asshole to my Steele.

I get you. Sera is easy to justify I think, there are plenty of reasons for having her.
But Del for example, that's another story. Her scenes are soooo fun thoough, I always want to just do everything I can to her, but damn, it's not right!!!
And then there the talk with Carver. Part of me reaaaally wants to have a friendship with her. But the other part just doesn't agree with that.

I really enjoy playing kind/mischievous characters, but it's hard to decide whether to find a reason to justify this sort of behaviour for them just to enjoy the content for myself, or to actually just full on roleplay the character and shun slavery.

I personally don't remember Del's stuff too well, I just remember vaguely thing "Eh, well, I can't really change the situation too much, but at least I can help Del get comfortable with having sex. It's gonna happen anyways, better to enjoy it." And Del ends up on Canadia away from Carver anyway, so it ends well

with del there's direct intervention that can be taken to secure an early release from beth, but to be honest i feel as though beth would still feminize him anyway as it's in her nature/character(also kally releases him after purchasing the contract anyway). as for sera i look at it like this i buy her contract i make her 'my' sub and then she gets her freedom once i claim my inheritance as then i can spend all day with my space harem lavishing them in attention, so i see sera's slavery as temporary, as making her my sub doesn't break her mind, will, or spirit it only ensnares her heart

I don't. I do justify gaining access to Carver to release Del by saying, "better me than them", and believing that I can tell that I'm not taking it too far for him.

I go one step farther--Very simply, I am not my character and my character is not me. I abhor the concept of slavery irl, but role playing is all about stepping outside of oneself and into a different persona.

I have at least one main character in every game I've played with a creator that is literally just me, and I still consider it roleplay. Sure, sometimes I play as someone else, Mass Effect made it particularly difficult for a self-insert, but I love being me doing things I'll never get a chance to do. I'm internally consistent too, with general rules that apply across all relevant settings.

I find Sera pretty hard to justify. "Yeah, she's in debt with loan sharks, so any rich fancy pants can take her and chain her to her pleasure dungeon. So that's why I bought her to... Ooh... Well at least she's not a sex slave against her will... Oh... Well at least my I don't smell, because I love the shower scene."

Dell is also veeeery hard to justify. In my headcanon just as I reduce the cruelty of Sera, I reduce the cruelty of Carver. The slaves really really WANT to be slaves, but it's a very weak ass defense. In my head I try to frame Dell as Steele showing her a side of her sexuality she ignored in herself. But that's also pretty lame.

It's also the only exception I make for my self-insert character. Otherwise I am all 'fuck slavery', and I really enjoy Reaha for that reason.

I think it depends on how you end up viewing Sera and where you take her.

If you end up letting her running her own shop again, you've cleared her debt and you've helped her deal with a couple of personal issues. And you've also allowed Sera into a situation where she can live her dream without making the same mistakes again.

Why does my Steele need to justify anything she does? To what authority does the the young scion of a trillion dollar empire answer to?

Del was a bit of an exception, "She's happy right?"
And curing Reaha may have balanced the scales a bit.
Also Male Del doesn't have any content.

I just headcannon a lot of stuff like that out anyway because I know there's no possible way someone could make a game as complicated and varied as this that appeals to everyone. On some characters I'll simply complete content that I don't necessarily enjoy to get it out of the way and never engage with it again and on others I'll re-imagine the situation in a different way that makes sense for how I'm playing that version of Steele.

The only slave I ever take is Reaha, because the way I see it, having a kind "owner" who wants to help her cure her addiction and free her is a sight better than whatever bullshit she had to endure at Beth's.
But then I still feel guilty about having sexy times with her, so...

The most holiest of grounds
Common courtesy dictates that one must show a hate or non-acceptance of slavery, too bad my Steeles don't follow. My favourite character idolizes the Romans and their way of life, including but not limited to the enslavement of others.

Now all they need is a nice lorica segmentata style suit of power armour and a decorative banner to fly in the ship bedroom and the conquest can begin.

I don't. Any Steele that takes Sub Sera, in my head, is a bit of an asshole. The meta reason to get Sub Sera (unless you just gotta catch 'em all) is that you're annoyed that Sera wants to make you her bitch and you want force feed her a little humble pie in the shape of Steele's dick. If you're catch 'em all, the how and the why will not bother you at all.

Del is another matter. He's boned no matter what Steele does. There's no option to help him that doesn't involve exploiting him in some way. Leave him at Tarkus where he makes shit pay that probably won't even handle the interest on his debt or get him enjoying having his ass tapped. Do the latter and he ends up with Kally and is much happier. Reaha is in a similar situation, but much more drastic. If you just pay to screw her, you might not understand how unhappy she is because when you interact with her, she's dang near trippin' on pleasure patches. Still, it doesn't take a genius to figure that maybe being tied down to let her tits get to ginormous sizee wouldn't be something Reaha likes.

Steele may be the PC window into TiTS, but they still have a (broad) personality. For example, Steele does have a little angst about being a tailor groomed heir (via Charumine and Shade sister talk). Steele is also quite likely pansexual, regardless of player choices.

EDIT: Also, it's indentured servitude, not slavery. Slavery is illegal! /s

He couldn't.

But due to his current socioeconomic status he had no power to even try to stop it, nor influence someone like Bethany Carver to consider hiring more initially motivated ''workers''. Hell, there are entire races whose cultures revolve around sub/dom relationships, there must be a market for that, with proper respects to the rights of sentient species, of course. As such it was better for him, and his mission, to simply remain neutral until such a time as he has to means to influence the market.

One of the possible actions he could take when he owns Steele Tech, would be to implement a proper welfare system (safety net). A system that could stop the indentured servitude market by offering internships and educational programs in Steele Tech's various fields; marketing, scientific research, communication and more. Supporting local planet economies by moving parts of Steele Tech's production lines and other branches of the corporation could also offer relief to the planets that find themselves at the mercy of less ethical companies and/or individuals, such as the Carver Catering Company. Plus, it would help Steele Tech's image and provide a good shot of innovation to the corporation as a whole.

She's a psychopath who thinks it's hot as hell and doesn't especially care about the victims unless she's personally invested in them.

I didn't count Reaha because I never treated her like a slave, I was trying to free her.
