so im aware that sharkbites give gills and that those gills are purely asthetic but could it be possible to make them function on uveto without needing the deapthsuit? like even wearing a pressurized armor with gills would function to stop the crushing depths (if the pressurized armor is reinforced enough to to that) while the gills prevent drowning cause there gills

... if one is in a heavy pressure suit, they already don't need the gills to breathe. Unless it's one of those flooded pressure suits like in the Abyss.

Also, someone would have to write it, come up with interesting things to do underwater, etc.

How would gills work inside pressurised armor? o_O

Im no writer but I'd write it if I have to as for the depth suit that's what I'm getting at I utilize the graygoo armor set and the tiny little corridor in the underwater research lab on uveto required a whole set of armor to pass through and nova has proven she can do things like withstand pressure so I see no reason she couldn't act as a pressure suit for you while you breath water

You have no idea how pressure suits or gills work, do you?

I agree it would be nice for gills to actually be relevant at some point. The fact that it's prevented by pressure concerns is disappointing, now that you mention it.
Not needing the Depth Suit would be a huge advantage. It's not good for Techs and Smugglers and not all that great for Mercenaries, either.

There are no breathing concerns in the Queen of the Deep fight, either. What other places have water? The fishing hole on Uveto?

Two problems
1. There would have to be something to do underwater (or somewhere that could only be reached by going underwater).
2. You'd need some other way to achieve the same goal, since TFs aren't supposed to be mandatory. A 'Rebreather' Or SCUBA Accessory, maybe, or Airtight Armors.

There might be a problem with underutilized mechanics. Climbing Kit, for example. I'm waiting for more hazardous environments so the Shelter Drone might actually be worth it.

Preeeeetty sure you're not a gazillion miles underwater in the QOTD fight, aren't you just wading and thus have a movement debuff or something?

those are valid points you made and i agree the only place i know of underwater is the uveto research lab with the jalneria (the annoying jelly fish things) and the pressure is a problem so a pressurized armor would help with the pressure but i like using mods to get perks that are beneficial plus gray goo armor is to op and cute
