Gaining Heat/Rut Status

Currently enjoying build 7.34 of TiTS, in one of the update I have seen that there is an enjoyable new implementation of the Heat/Rut status.

How do I gain the status effects for either of them? What are the conditions to receive them?

Currently the only way to get them that I've seen is the new Laquine Ears transformative item. Heat is related to female genitals, rut for males.
