I had played through all the encounters and explored the whole station before returning to my ship. I was looking through my stats using the Codex. I'm not sure exactly which screen I clicked into when the error happened. I'm playing a female, Kui-tan, tech specialist if that matters. 
I was able to replicate it if that helps. Looking at stats in the codex and clicking into the other section gives this same error every time.
