You’ve heard of Murphy’s Law? A crow with a natural ability to divine the future, the name is only fitting. He might look cute and cuddly but he’s your plug, if you want to get something across the Bifrost and into Vanaheim without suspicion, it helps to get to know somebody that knows the guard schedules before they’re written.
NOW WE CAN MOVE ON TO THE SECOND STRETCH GOAL!
THE ANIMATED OPENING
Do I have to sell it? all of the game's characters features in an awesome foreshadowing setting trailer? come on? All animated? Come On!
Why Kickstarter?
At its heart, this game is a love letter to the Furry Fandom and all of the cool, creative, weird, and awesome parts of it. By crowdfunding a project like this we are afforded the opportunity to work closely with the people that want to see this game created, and, more specifically help create a living, breathing world. We believe the only way to do that is by the support and input of everybody backing this project.

Once upon a time, there existed a world tree. Upon this tree hung nine realms. Regarded as the realm of the gods, Asgard and its people often meddled in the affairs of the rest of the realms through the portal known as the Bifrost, sewing seeds of cynicism and distrust. Soon, the inhabitants of these realms obeyed the commands of the Asgardians, whose magic was much stronger than theirs. In return, those in Asgard promise to maintain order within the rest of the realms.
However, tyranny never lasts. It wasn’t long before the leaders of the other eight realms caught on and began devising a plan to dethrone all of Asgard. Each realm sent a powerful magical champion to Midgard, where a spell was performed: a spell to redirect the Bifrost toward a new realm, forever imprisoning the realm of Asgard. This new realm would be one of peace and convergence-- a place where anybody could live in utopic harmony.
Utopic Harmony hardly lasts either, and questions of civil rights, homeland security, and other issues not typically tackled in a fantasy setting are addressed in this game.
Familiar Travels: a world where magic is an integral part of the infrastructure, government, and seemingly every minute detail of daily life. The people here come from every corner of the world tree, creating a true melting pot of magical potential. You, a Midgardian, have recently received a special invitation to study at one of most prestigious magical schools in Vanaheim, and will be allowed to move into your new apartment by the end of the week. You indeed expect to meet a plethora of unique and cooky characters, but be warned: you might just have a transformative experience!
Vanaheim is home to dozens of strange and unusual characters from all of the nine realms. We're starting ambitiously with four major characters with romance paths, multiple endings, and most importantly relationships with one another. We want this world to feel alive, you are coming into a world where everybody knows each other at least to some extent, and a challenge in the game will be finding where you fit in.
An exotic lioness from a far off realm, she has a heart of gold and a mind of bronze, her intense empathy may make her come off as strange, but with so much body to love she makes up for it with her adorable foreign charm.
Although he swears he doesn't know any magic, he somehow stays at the top of all of his classes. He's been here longer than any of the characters in the game but still doesn't have any friends...
A "Herbalist" (Yes, that means the same thing here.) She is less sweet than she looks, has all the good stuff and probably listens to better music than you. She has wing arms, because she's so fly.
The person you'll see the most of early on. He's tall for an imp, a master manipulator. He's the local shopkeep, librarian and has exactly the amount of secrets a demon should have.
With all of these characters it'll be hard to choose - and more characters are to come upon funding being reached for the game!
Gameplay Style:
Unlike traditional visual novels with a rigid path the full version of the game seeks to blend visual novel style with a graphic adventure, like the old-school point and click adventures. Instead of being locked into a path you'll be able to gain affinity with different romance-able characters, and that combined with the different flags you obtain by making different choices will determine the courses of the game. You will not have to constantly be saving and reloading to experience the game. I do not think a game should have to implement an element to "skip" it, it should just be fun to replay and give you varied experiences every time!
We feature three major artists in the game, this gives us a unique art style and some variance between what you see. So, here they all are!
Character Artist: Gillpanda / Battu
Gillpanda of Red Chair and Red Equinox fame is responsible for all the beautiful character illustrations, as well as all of the lewd scenes. Gillpanda works with our background artists to give continuity between the lighting, shading, ect giving the game a realistic effect.
A problem plaguing various visual novels is the inability to distinguish the characters in the foreground from the background in an easy way, we wanted beautiful detailed characters and backgrounds and having multiple artists gives us the contrast we need for this.
Background Artist - Nexivian
The absolutely jaw-dropping mix between cartoon shading and realism Nexivian provides gives the perfect contrast during individual scenes with characters, as well as giving us a detailed and true to mental look at what Vanaheim truly is.
Background Artist - Benjiro
Benjiro’s light and detailed backgrounds fill the world with life, providing the extra detail you need to make a living world, small details are hidden into every background to make just looking at the game a treat on it’s own
Composer - Ben Taylor
Beautiful, jovial music from Ben Taylor provides the needed tie-together for a visual novel. Music is an important part, and the music provided gives the immersion to tie it all together.
CHRONOS - Ben Taylor
That’s all! If you have questions please check our FAQ and backers can give feedback on the demo also! Happy Travels.
