If you have progressed pretty far on that save file and starting over would be a bother, you can always try save editing. It will be as simple as deleting some of the flags in the save.

Just make sure to make copies of your original save files before messing with them, and don't use the edited saves to report bugs.

Ah ok, thanks, to edit the saves that way, does it require a site/program or do I open up the save file itself?

You need to first create a .coc2 file by using the Save to File option in the game's Data menu, and the go here. If you have questions about the functionality of the editor, there is a dedicated thread.
