Encounter Saturation Opinions (or "are there ever enough SpeciesX?")

Long time lurker (2+ years, off and on), finally getting involved myself. Finally looking at dipping my toes into event submissions, but first I'd love to pick the brains of more longterm members/contributors.

One of the forums' key recommendations for new writers is to take on small projects at first: namely, writing new encounters or additional scenes for prexisting ones. This can prove daunting if there's already a lot of content in the encounter areas you'd like to write. Hence my question: At what point do submissions for certain encounters become superfluous simply because there's already so much quality content for an area/species? Does such a saturation point exist, or could we always use more SpeciesX GenderY random encounters?

Beyond this point is optional elaboration:

For discussion purposes, I'm going to use the randomly chosen examples of the Zil (simply because they're one of my favorites). There's already a lot of beautiful Zil encounter content in the game. Zil Female and Zil Male random encounters have a plethora of sex scenes, and then there's also Able, Kane, and the other fun NPC encounters in the Plantation Quests. What if somebody wants to make a Zil Female v.2 with a different personality and different sex scenes, ala the different Vanae encounters? A more subby twist on the Zil Male, inspired by how some of the current encounter's win scenes can go? Is there ever a saturation point where you'd recommend newer contributors to look elsewhere for inspiration unless they have a guaranteed extremely unique idea?

I think it's best to write what you want to see in the game. Pretty much everything in this game has people who think there should be more of it, so whatever you write, you'll probably find someone who likes it. I don't know if there's a point when there's too much of one thing or another, though going for a more unique idea is better - if you do something that's just a slightly different take, it'll probably get lost in the shuffle.

I do see people talking about the game needing more man characters and more content for planets that aren't Mhen'ga, though, so if you've got an idea for something that fits those, that could be a good place to start. Good luck and welcome to the forums.

The reason we generally advice new-ish writers to write what they like instead of what the forum wants, is because that is most likely to actually get done. And getting something done is the first step on the road to getting more something done. Savin and co may not like writing a sentient ball of dicks, but they can do it and finish it because they cut their teeth writing stuff that interests them.

So I'd advice you not to care all that much about how much of a certain thing there is, just make sure that your thing is the best thing it could be.
