Does the TamaniCorp Buddy sock actually work?

My Steele is wearing a TamaniCorp Bubble sock, which supposedly makes a small bubble everytime they sleep, but I never see anything showing up in inventory.
Does this actually work?

It seems to work when you Sleep on your Ship, but not with a Tent or in the Tavros Apartment.

Seems like some Paulette sleep with-scenes seem to block it and also most (if not all) of the sleep fapnea dreams.
