Does save editing always lead to game crashing?

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but back when I first killed the behemoth I was led to believe nothing would be done with it, and it would just sit in the Wayfort. So I'm considering editing the save to have the Behemoth in a separate save file from my main one. But would this lead to some form of game crashing or bug issues?

Not if you do it right; the "your save is edited" warning/pop-up is mainly there for the devs' bug-testing purposes, so they know not to bother testing with a save whose edits might very well be the cause of the bug and thus outside legitimate gameplay (save editing isn't officially supported).

I used the github save editor for this after playing around with editing a few things using notepad. So nothing should break (All I did was put "true" for behemoth met in the garden.

That might be your problem. You're supposed to put a 1 in that, not "true."
