Does Armor Type Matter?

Does the weight of the armor matter in the game? Light, Medium, Heavy.

I stick with medium thinking it'll offer more protection than Light but won't slow me down like heavy for chasing or running parts.

I think the armor classification only matters for character perks, I've yet to notice any other differences between the armor classifications.

As far as I have played this game, it doesn't.
I have thought about it some time ago (last year now that I think about it) and I've made some testing to see if it has any influence besides perks, but found no visible changes to damage or character's stats.
