I've sort of been holding off on going there because I can't decide if I want Brint or Brienne. But unless I'm misreading the wiki, I'll have to if I want to complete Ryn's quest and uncage her.

Yep, gotta go to minotown to continue ryn's quest and free the peen. Alternatively, you can wait for Lumia's solution to be implemented into the game but who knows how long that'll be.

If you talk with Lumia about your companions, you can ask her to remove Ryn's Cage, but that content hasn't been added yet.
