Difficulty spike in Glacial Rift

Not really sure how to get strong enough to reliably beat the enemies after the winter palace, was wondering if anyone could share some tips?

Turn on easy mode, or wait for Level 6 to drop. The area's mostly balanced around well-kitted Level 5s or Level 6s, but L6 hasn't released yet.

So is it the general goal to have content worthy of a level up all set before increasing player level?

Yes. We pretty much always go content before powerup.

That said, if I can beat whatever content we have on Dark Mode at level 5, we don't need level 6 right away.
