Companions in the game

Hey y'all. So I was wondering just how many companions we can expect to have in this game? Don't get me wrong, super happy with what we have, just curious for the future!

We have Brint/Brienne for a Barbarian beefcake, Cait for a Healslut, Etheryn for actual uwu feelings, Berwynn for a femboy bratty mage, Aronna for a Futa Fighter, Atugia for a girl Paladin who's body we can worship, Kiyoko for a literally foxy wife, and Quin as a cute bunny boy so far, with Azzyran the Hornyet Knight coming sometime in the future.

That's nine companions right there! That's a lot! Are there even any more in the pipeline? And If you had the writing skill, what type of companion would you like to see added?

Real talk though (and soz if you already know this, but if people who see this thread don't, this is for them too): companion submissions are limited to tried and tested authors with a record of completing successful projects for the dev team. You know: the people with purple names. And even for them, only one companion per writer. (Except bossman Savin with three, because he is an absolute madman.)

So wsan writes Bri, Hugs writes Berry, Garde writes Tui, Tobs writes Kiyoko, Bubbs writes Quin, and SKoW writes Azzy. And Sav writes Cait, Arona, and Ryn.

Companions are a shitload of work. They have to be integrated into combat gameplay, they have to be reactive to a bazillion scenes in tons of little ways, they have to have their own interesting designs and arcs, and so on. Each one is a colossal writing project, which is why submissions are so limited. The team doesn't want a rando to toss off an idea, write a companion's first few scenes, and then dip to have their content eternally abandoned as happened in CoC1 and as has happened in TiTS.

At the moment, there's only one sekrit companion in the works by an established author that I know of, and that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Thanks for such a detailed response<3 The only bit I personally didn't know was this new Sekrit companion, and new companion info was totally what this post was all about, so thanks a million! Uh..one thing though..what's a Sekrit?

Gonna add that if you want more info on that companion Alypia is hinting at, you should join the public discord and crtl+f the hidden name from their message. There's also some minor spoilers you can find if you search that name in the parser document. Besides that companion and their mystery author, the only other writer I'm aware of with a golden ticket is B who has shown interest in making one.

so expect one more companion - maybe two if B feels like it

as for your hypothetical, I'd want something like a female goblin bard or an armor clad white mage.

Hi! Thank you so much for the reply! Gosh so it sounds like 3, maybe even 4 if B does two(though I thought Savin was pretty strict about the one per author rule) more companions will be added? That's so many, awesome!

Ah, I think you misunderstood me. I was saying that we have the secret companion and one more if B decides to write one.

Ohhhh ok so just 3 more, Azzy, the secret Sekrit, and one more if B writes one. Still tons gosh woot!
