Best Build Help?

So I was wondering, with the current state of the game, what is the best build? I've mostly used Tech Specialist, though recently I've tried Smuggler. It didn't go well. So I figured I'd come here and ask, what is the best build?

Also what do you all consider to be the best transformation to take, and starting race? This one is mostly out of curiosity of what people like to use.

The goal of this is to create a character that's been min-max'd to best deal with pretty much everything in the game.

One of the reasons why TiTS doesn't have as many racial perks as CoC did had to do with not forcing people to play a race they didn't want to play as.

What Kesil said, but to answer your question: Ranged Mercenary, hands down. I thought I was a badass when Charge Weapon was implemented, and I was, but holy hell does a Ranged Merc outclass that. A Ranged Smuggler is also pretty great, the only reason I'd rank it below the Tech is that it's high damage comes from Status Effecting the enemies, which doesn't always work.

Ranged merc is a beast. Rapid Fire, Concentrate Fire and Second Shot along with Carpet Grenades for AoE and Take Cover for Defensive, you'll have Amara crying for a nerf.

Shield Tech is really hard for enemies to take down via hp damage.

Why no love for the Techie? That shield buff means they can actually wear that heat shield and not die instantly!

As for best race... Human. The reason being that it's the best place to start when turning into other things, unless you have a specific goal in mind that corresponds to the existing starting races

If you are using a heat shield then you are bad at the game. The consumable heat buffs are by far the best way to keep warm

To be perfectly honest, I do use the heat belt when I want to dick around Irestead and not go gallivanting into the Icy Plains.

@Raindrops Tlako and the Essrya traders sell a Thermal Pack that provides 24 hour heat protection and it's pretty cheap too. Just buy the Welcome Basket when enter the station. Tlako is at the North East end.

yer either ranged merc or melee shield tech though I lean towards tech as then I don't have to worry about my armor stats so I can wear whatever.

The key to having a viable build is to not mix melee and ranged perks, and to choose class appropriate gear (kinetic/energy, evasion/defense/shield)

I prefer a melee Merc, personally. Cleave is a free AoE attack and lunge counters the flying enemy weakness that melee techs and smugs can suffer from. Pitting Rapid Fire's extra low-accuracy attacks (without a chaingun) against Power Strike's one normal-accuracy hit also puts me in favor of melee.

If you're a techie, the best transformative you can get is... lactation. You can regain energy by drinking your own milk, which helps with the tech's still-not-great energy regen.

Wait, What? I've never seen the option to do that! How do you do it?

I'm not 100% how it works, but i believe some fluid types are flagged to slightly restore energy when ingested. Scenes where the PC ingests their own fluids are few and far between, which is why this is vary obscure.

I can confirm that the Ranged Merc build proposed works wonderfully. For the first time, I've been able to take down the Frostwyrm flawlessly. Multiple times.

For countering the cold, you should raise your freezing resitance over 50%. The Myr Overcoat + Weavemail Coat does a good job doing that, as well as the Frostbane Mail + Beathrice's Scarf combo.

You can combine the scarf and the weavemail coat too, but I don't remember if they reach the 50% of freezing resistence. I think that they hit 42% or so, so you'll have to be wary of the white areas of the Rift.

talking about both the coat and the scarf makes me wanna pull a terraria and combine the two.

A bit more than 'slightly'. I had done some experimentations, flagged fluids restore energy based on how much milk the PC has. At around 2000 ml the PC regained about 75 energy, while at around 3000 the PC went to the max of 128 (-5 for the orgasm).

I've only made one character, so I can't really say how this compares to others, but I play a ranged tech. And I've literally only lost a single fight so far, so...

So this isn't exactly about builds but is related. On Meng'ha the cunt snake seems to be impossible to hit with ranged attacks. Is this planned to be used on other enemies as well like flying is. If so will we get something like the mercenary lunge to counter that. Mainly asking so I can try to come up with a build just in case.

The Doll Maker from Pexigaquest is the same way as the cunt snake, and there is no direct perk-based ranged counter. Flying enemies can be melee'd if you stun them first, I dunno about enemies with innate ranged evasion though, stunning the cunt snake doesn't allow you to shoot them.

I meant if this ranged dodge thing becomes semi normal like flying will we get a way to counter it like how mercs have lunge atm. Would still like to see a less powerful version of lunge available to all classes that just allows you to hit flying enemies and nothing else.

No? Maybe? It doesn't make sense that all classes would have it. Mercs are the no-nonsense class so it's on them. Techs and smugs will haveta get artsy if they want to hit fliers and evaders.

If by "artsy" you mean "hit them with a ranged shock attack instead", then yes.

Do Flashbang or Mag Binders work on flying enemies?

Yes, as does low blow, headbutt, and Power Strike. It's NORMAL melee attacks that is the problem, and yes, that's stated in the tooltip. So like I implied, you'd have to use other options as a smug or tech that doesn't necessarily involve shooting them, and you can stun them to get your normal melee swings going.

Wait a second, they're too far for a sword but not body parts?

The techs lunge could be "extendo arms" have robotic arms from a small backpack that hits enemies for you.

Techs should be like Bentley is Sly Cooper!

Seriously though, Bentley was scary. In 2 he tranq'd people and then stuffed bombs in their pockets, and in 3 he could just drop infinite bombs on the ground and watch them roll towards unsuspecting enemies.
