Are erotic stories a big thing on Patreon?

Edit: I just noticed that I put a general question in a fiction-only thread. I don't know how to delete or move the thread, but it might belong in General, if a moderator wishes to move it. Sorry for my mistake

Hi, I write erotic stories mostly for fun and for a few blogs as a ghost writer. I am a member of a few small circles of erotica writers that enjoy (yes, including that) the writings of one another. But I recently got some offers for writing for some Patreon-funded projects, and I got a little surprised at how many of these there are!

Is this a common practice, having a Patreon and collecting erotic stories? I tried doing a collection of short stories once on print on demand, but nothing much ever came of it and I took it down. I just do small writing gigs and my own stuff for kicks now. But if people can make a bit off of their writing like this on Patreon, I might give it another go. Is it a "thing"?

Kind of. You can make coffee money doing that. But words are undervalued on the internet at large and you aren't gonna make bill money that way.

Only people that *need* words will pay good money for words. Like people who make porno games.
