Dividing the larger scope of it into separate projects and rearranging what I had really pushed things forward.

This is really well done. More doms are always appreciated.

Can't wait to see what else you have in mind for the crew.

I'm not really happy that once you answer the distress call, it's a default loss that you only escape because it was a misunderstanding. Which gets worse when you're also presented as useless when it comes to fixing the ship, Tech-job or intelligence notwithstanding (yeah, it might just be their tech being arrogant, but an 80+% intelligence tech specialist could at least react insulted (at least politely insulted if they're nice) over being called "a noobie").

Also, Anno is the only one reacting to borders, when Azra is a hulking giant wearing armor as casual outfit, Paige is an ex-pirate that likes to spar with you (if only close combat), and I'm pretty sure Reaha mentioned that she's ex-military. And going by the tutorial, Celise can tank a ton of physical damage.

And I think the surprise trap is going to be even more problematic when you can get different customizable ships that might be moving fortresses.

I mean, sure, this is apparently supposed to show how awesome these guys are, but that falls flat (for me) when the second impression (after "someone fires military-spec weapons at you") is "a bunch of fools doing a comedy sketch".

(yeah, it might just be their tech being arrogant, but an 80+% intelligence tech specialist could at least react insulted (at least politely insulted if they're nice) over being called "a noobie").

That was the implication, yes. You're right that I should add something like that.

I started that section before Azra or Paige were in game (Azra might have been, but if she was, it was very early, when she had very little content.) So I didn't account for them. I might go back and add a blurb for Azra, but I don't feel like I understand Paige well enough to write one for her; and besides, that scene is already as long as a decent sized character, by itself, so I really don't want to go in and make it too much longer. Celise can take a lot, but she's not really a fighter, neither is Reaha, at least with all the moo mods. I was thinking of doing Reaha, but then I realized I'd have to account for if the PC told her not to talk and basically treated her like shit, and I'm just gonna say it, I have zero interest in that part of her content.

And I think the surprise trap is going to be even more problematic when you can get different customizable ships that might be moving fortresses.

More problematic would be trying to account for a feature that isn't implemented yet, and doesn't have a clear timeframe for when it's going to be implemented. We also don't know what ships are going to be available when it gets in. I'm pretty sure there's not going to be military level stuff there, since Fen has said that any military-grade equipment is going to be strictly near, or at end game. Which means looking even further forward for those kinds of ships, and I don't know a way I could put something down about that that wouldn't require a coder to come back and add in hooks for it once those ships do come out. Plus that would require either having the scene play out the same way, just with the PC fighting back a bit first; or trying to do space combat, again, before it's implemented, and also potentially rewrite a ton of that opening to account for if the PC wins the fight. It's a ton of guess work on my part that would become a pain for whoever has to code this, and I'm sure if I asked Geddy, she'd tell me not to bother right now.

I mean, sure, this is apparently supposed to show how awesome these guys are,

Your second impression is more of what I was going for. The initial thing with them disabling the ship is just supposed to show you that they have a lot of good hardware, and know how to use it. But I intentionally defused and deescalated the situation quickly in order to get a lighter tone for the rest of the scene. The idea here is more to show off each character and how they bounce off of each other than it is to show off them being "badass".

The problem I have with that is that I ended up with the impression "Look, your ship was disabled and you were overwhelmed by a bunch of clowns who get distracted in a combat situation - and you still can't do shit against them", which... Well, it just rubs me the wrong way.
(The pecking order:
You < a bunch of clowns that got lucky < actually capable people)

Celise can take a lot, but she's not really a fighter, neither is Reaha, at least with all the moo mods. Eh, simplest solution would be to only have her react if she's allowed to talk - or even only if her addiction is cured.
I mean, if she's told to shut up and stay in her room, she might not care what happens to Steele, but "Steele is my savior who cured my addiction and whom I can never thank enough"-Reaha seems like she'd have an opinion about that.

But then, I did check again, and she was only in the military for two years and never saw combat, so yeah, she's not exactly a veteran...

They didn't really get lucky. You wandered into a trap that they set up for a completely different person, and didn't have the gear (again, most likely no military stuff until late game, and this is supposed to trigger after the Steller Tether) or knowledge about the situation to be able to effectively counter it.

Nope, what you see here is all there is. I'm going to try and fit at least one scene with each of them into the sexpak, though.

They didn't really get lucky.
I know, the pecking order part is mostly tongue in cheek. (I didn't even list the dirt and the worms inside the dirt.)
But it's still the basic impression I got from the scene. ("Look, they can't even get the right person and you're still helpless"... "Oh great, the one who made the plan for the trap loudly complains about how her plans suck. And you idiot still fell for it." And I'm not even going into why gun twirling is horrible in this situation.)
If they were coming for you, you'd be dead.

If this was just some overgeared bunch of bumbling fools then okay, but then Winston (the gun twirler) easily keeps you subdued while everyone keeps on bantering, so this feels more like a bunch of fools that still clearly outclasses you. They may be a joke, but you are just a punchline.

Side note: I know I'm on the thin-skinned side of various things, in this case no-win scenarios for the protagonist. (I would have failed the Kobayashi Maru scenario so hard.)
The writing itself is good, and more content for TiTS is always great, even if it isn't fine-tuned to my tastes.

(But I'll still complain about being defeated by someone whose first visible action is a faceplant in the middle of combat, followed by childish bickering still in the middle of combat. The first - shit happens. But the second adds insult to injury.)

Reaha, but then I realized I'd have to account for if the PC told her not to talk
Just have her write her response on a datapad, or whatever. Loophole. Plus, that's totally something she would do.

Edit: ugh, god, looking at this post makes me sick, but I have no idea how to rephrase it. Magic Ted forgive me!

Just so you're aware of the power levels in the game, at least some of the gear currently available is described as being military grade. For example, the Black Light Rifle. And there's a pirate boss with power armour and a chaingun that the player is expected to beat, should they follow the relevant quest. So Steele can fight with and against some pretty powerful stuff.

I meant in terms of high end military stuff. Stuff that's probably not going to be sold by random nice bug ladies. And I still call bullshit on Amara being beatable, or honestly even fightable, this early in the game. A creepy neuter living in the trash is significantly stronger than one of the most feared criminals out there. Hell, Shizuya is a lot stronger just by virtue of being a higher level (Not even mentioning that I probably overdid her stats by quite a bit).

A small update:

With the contest and other projects I've wanted to do for a while taking off. I've decided to delay the sexpak until after Shizuya gets reviewed and accepted. It's probably better that way in case something major needs changing, so I'm not synching that change across both docs, after the fact.

If you're referring to Dr. Lash, he's living in the trash because he's an ecoterrorist who is hunted by the UGC after he sterilized the entire sentient population of a planet. He and Badger aren't random nobodies, they are mad scientists no one wants to work with because they are to crazy and dangerous.

It's a bit weird that they are competent fighters on top of that, but anime has taught me that scientists get more competent in combat the more crazy they are.

Change of plans, sexpak is up and I'm working on it. Just won't do anything that's too involved, and might complicate things if it needs to be changed.

I love your concepts, really aligns with a lot of my own tastes. Can't wait for Shizuya to be in the game!!!
