Anyone else excited for Power Armor? :D

I know I am! I've been hyped up for it ever since I got my first chaingun way back when you slapped the Juggernaut! Taking a little sneaky-peak at the Trello for Busts I noticed Couch's Uveto Dungeon in there and the google document has a power armor as a reward! Albeit a non-military model.

Either way, to me that makes it feel like the it's 'close-ish' and in the immediate future rather than just an idea that I might not see for a long-long time! Sooo excitement!

Making this an actual discussion though instead of my blithering on about my love of mechanized suits of armor: What do you think the pros and cons will be for power armor mechanically? :O

Example, I have -heard- that the weapons labelled Power Armor encumber you so your movespeed is slowed. I've also heard that said weapons lift their physique requirement when equipped in a suit of power armor! (albeit hacks were used to make a suit of armor labelled as Power Armor)

I also wonder what the downsides will be. Like what the cons of wearing power armor as opposed to regular armor might be, although that ties into knowing the advantages as far as balancing goes :V Example: Might it entirely disable tease attacks? Disable sex entirely outside of defeats? It's a suit of power armor afterall, not a skimpy scalemail suit that can just be tugged aside(Unless explicitly designed for such). I can't imagine the descriptor "They deftly slide off your heavily plated tanksuit" as being particularly... apt.

All I know for sure is that I am finally going to drop my minion-based tech specialist and instead remake them as a shield-based techie so that the focus will be more on the armor! (Although the wiki does mention shoulder mounted cannons as something a certain boss uses in tandem with their power armor which is functionally the same as a minion so we'll see how I minmax that junk in due time.)

So!! What do -you- think would be the pros and cons of Power Armor? Thoughts? Excited or nah?

Power Armor should definitely disable Tease attacks, but not stop you from taking lust damage. This could prevent the player from just power armor-ing into every encounter.

I think power armor would obviously boost your Health/Shields/Defense/All of the above, but what if it enhanced your melee attacks, aim, or gave you a special attack.

Especially if the power armor is not military grade, it could give more inventory slots, higher speed, max out your physique for any skillchecks etc. but it could make you easier to hit and the power armor could make you more prone to certain damage types.

It sounds pretty interesting to me.

The most holiest of grounds
I originally thought that the power armours found throughout the game would be made for different purposes and completely replaces your skills while you use it. For example, one named Zues would be a powerhouse and have various electric energy based attacks and skills while one named Aphrodite would be a little weak but would be a total wrecker with lust attacks. Just a little mechanical armour fantasy of mine that unfortunately will never get realized.

I do agree, it would be a bit odd for the suit to allow teasing unless it was some sort of -very- specific model. A tradeoff for the no doubt amazing physical defense. The document, which could always be changed in the final iteration, was pressurized so it would be immune to gas-based lust attacks. Psionic and tease would of course stay in for damaging the user!

And well, it might be possible a military version might provide enhanced Aim and such if it was a military model. Built in computers and yadda yadda, the one in the document is simply used for underwater exploration and heavylifting. So a strength boost makes sense, however I think that might just be represented in the 'can use heavy weapons without physique' aspect. Like it makes us able to lift more and easier but not hit harder.

I feel like having extra storage would be a bit OP though, since we already have purchasable storage space! It could increase the 'weight threshold' stat though, or perhaps specified models like a construction mech could have storage space but lesser defense. I think it would make the most sense if there was a reflexes penalty as well, since we will be weighed down by heavy plates of armor and such, also because we are -bigger- most likely in the suit. A bigger target and that.

And that does sound interesting Preacher! Not sure I'd get behind it though, just because class choices kinda becomes useless after a given point, y'know? Maybe the suits could grant a special ability 'built into the frame' in certain models though!

Let's not pretend power suits are this close to getting done.

We know practically nothing about them and there's no indication they're even actively being worked on.

Hmmm, what if power Armors didn't completely replace your skills, but gave you an extra skill or two.

Say, power armor could give you the ability to resist stun-locks? The power armor has Shock absorbers/Electrical Insulation that protects the user from heavy hits and electrical damage (No electric and physical stuns)

You could also have skills that are usable out of combat, like a jumpjet that has the same purpose as the hoverboard, or the suit could prevent lust damage from the landmines on Myrellion and other chemical based lust attacks.

I kind of feel that power armor should be well, overpowered.

Why? Power armor bridges the gap between infantry and mechanized infantry, it greatly increases combat survival via armor, shields, greater mobility and environmental protection. Ease of movement provided by the suit allows for individuals to tire less and thus operate longer duration than non-power armored personnel. Increased strength combined with large frame allow users to field heavier weaponry that allow it to engage infantry, vehicles and other power armored foes.

@Klaptrap Why not? The fact they are on the Trello to receive busts means they are on the way, the depthsuit is kinda vital to that quest. I don't mean like in a week or a month, do no timemeline, but it's MUCH closer than say, psionics. I've also listed at least one thing we KNOW. Their tie to the heavy weapons and how they remove the physique requirements on those!

And I'd love them to be OP but they should have downsides so we don't just instantly pick them in my mind! There should at least be an argument for lighter armors!

I have a few things to talk about here. First, a Merc or Tech will likely be at home in Power Armor, but what about a Smuggler? Are we likely to see different classes of Power Armor for the different classes, augmenting different things? Second, Power Armor accessories, like that thing Amara has. Last is reiterating the, "what's to stop us from cheesing the game in it"? It needs to have something that holds it back, but not a Kryptonite. I have no proposals for this, but I'm sure someone will figure it out.

Where? Because I don't see any.

Also Power Armor is meant to be late game, I imagine they're obviously gonna be very powerful armor, so if there's any chance of them being done, it's not gonna be quick, I very much doubt even a year or two we'll be be actively getting them.
So I wouldn't assume we're gonna be getting them faster than psionics being implementic, the story progression of the game isn't consistent enough to judge that at all.

Yeeeeah...there's no way a non-military model would have more inventory or have a higher speed. Civilian models of any materiel would be governed by laws or by their nature "weaker" compared to the military model. So a military set of power armour would have to carry more, move faster to avoid fire and hit harder.

As a long time 40K and Dark Heresy player, I think that different types of power armour wouldn't be impossible. In fact, classes of power armour could be feasible. Light power armour could consist of a chest piece and pieces to cover key places, but still allow a greater degree of mobility, at the expense of damage reduction. Heavier models (I'm thinking the Igor armour from Iron Man 3 here), would be for carrying the kind of weapons you'd find on vehicles. Base power armour, I'd say that would be the kind you find in Fallout 4, the kind you hop into through the back, albeit with an extremely streamlined appearance.

I'm really torn on power armor... On one hand, it's FREAKIN' POWER ARMOR, YEEAAAAH!

but on the other hand, it's *really* hard to play an exhibitionist/nudist if you're clad in power armor... Usually I don't use armor at all for my dudes, unless I'm going in to kill the Juggernauts because those are stupid OP

(well, the gemstone link thingie is fine, as I've understood that one basically isn't armor at all)

For this, there could be a scene right before the defeat dialogue where the armor engages an emergency protocol and ejects you, and then everything just proceeds as usual.

Rayleh is power armor that's already more than halfway done, though.

Sorry for the late response!

More specifically the list on the left that says "To-Do" and has "Couch's Uveto Dungeon" listed.

Just to save you the trouble of looking through the google document in there here is the description of the armor I refer to. In spoilers of course in case you wanna well, keep it secret or something. Now, I'll be the first to say that in the actual tags 'power armor' isn't in there but I am assuming that's oversight considering everything else in the description explicitly describes it as power armor. I assume it will be added when the people whose job it is to add this stuff looks it over.

Akkadi Armored Depthsuit

Short name: armored depthsuit

Inventory name: Ak.Suit

Tooltip: This Akkadi-made depthsuit, effectively a stripped-down version of military power armor, is used for underwater operations where extreme pressure is a concern. Climate-controlled and electrically insulated, the suit provides up to eight hours of air as well as artificial musculature that dynamically adjusts to compensate for the difficulty of moving in deep water. While most of the military-grade combat software has been removed, the same plating that allows the suit to withstand the crushing pressure of the ocean depths makes it quite durable in combat. Modular components allow it to be adjusted for users with unusual body structures to ensure a proper environmental seal. It's not much of a looker, and painted in a rather unappealing orange, but you can't have everything.

Stats: Sexiness penalty, offers high Defense along with Thermal, Freezing, and Electrical resistance

Tags: Airtight, Pressurized (allows Steele to function deep underwater)

Try clicking on the link. She is kinda like Nova (the Grey Goo armor) but with tentacles! Lots and lots of tentacles that wrap you in tentacle goodness!

The link is a picture of Samus dude. It doesn't help explaining at all, other than how it looks.

The omission is intentional. I'm making the assumption that providing actual power armor would be imbalanced/a pain in the ass to code right now, so if Fen wants to add the flag, he can, but if he doesn't he should feel under no obligation to do so.

That said, the dungeon has not been reviewed by staff, so saying it'll appear soon is premature at best.

That's not really a better way of saying it...
There's not really any better way he COULD say it. Ladyparts = vajayjay obviously. And you can only get Rayleh if you have a vagina. It's not exactly excluding those with vags that aren't fem.
