Anno and Steele Tech

Will we ever find out why Victor sent Anno to Tarkus? Seems like an interesting story to hear.

My best guess is that he pre-planned the destination of the probes, and that he wanted his son/daughter to pick Anno up as a companion.

I'm with Woider with this one.   Its not impossible that Victor planned deck 13 from the beginning, using a convenient untapped goldmine to establish Steele Jr.'s value to the company.  He could have also rewarded Anno's skill and loyalty by subtly setting her up for a high end promotion once Steele Jr. becomes head of Steele Tech.   Or he simply could be playing matchmaker.   You can do far worse then a cute, fuzzy and incredibly intelligent doggirl with highly placed family connections.

My guess is that Victor probably had a hunch about the whole ghost deck thing. He probably hoped she would eventually unravel the mystery of the ship.

But a probe being placed there might also have something to do with it...unless he just shot them out randomly. In that case it´s just a happy coincidence.

If it was placed there intentionally however, he might have thought that his son/daughter could help out Anno at the same time as he went out probe hunting. I´m guessing he assumed his future heir would be prone to side tracking.

I think it's pretty obvious that Vic sent Anno to Tarkus so that Steele would have a friendly face in place. I don't think there's anything to suggest Vic knew anything about Deck 13, though. Anno says that she discovered Deck 13 by tracing an unusually high power draw through ship schematics she scraped up, or something, after she was already there. So if Vic knew about Deck 13 before sending Anno to Tarkus, it's not explained how.

Further, I don't think Vic would really be playing those sorts of games, as Anno wasn't like 'I got banished here until I fulfill this task'. Her situation is 'I got sent here and don't know why, so I might as well make the best of it' and then after Deck 13 is completed, she puts in a request to be transferred that she doesn't even know will be approved. I think Vic's intent was merely to have a trustworthy Steele Tech Employee working on the planet so that you'd have some kind of friend there, similar to how you run into Crazy Carl (though it might bejust  a coincidence that Carl himself is working there) and the plantation guy on Mhen'ga (probably not a coincidence that you just happen to be sent to a planet where there's a plantation owned by an acquaintance of your dad). No such contact on Myrellion - maybe he figures you've got your act together by that point?

Savin wanted to write the perfect waifu, but also wanted to troll everyone at the same time. Thus, Anno was created.

He also created a whole race of sexually disloyal doge people and the trend of everything being marked by PC's dad in the process. Not complaining. ^_^

It seems to me that plantation owner is even more of an coincidence since he isn't what you'd call high echelon of his company and, according to his dialogue, not only did he disagree with Vic Steele on many fields (such as genemodding, treatment of employees and ect.) but also they met on a brief occasion (occasions?). Meaning, that the plantation guy would remember Vic, but Vic more than likely wouldn't have remembered him or given a fuck about the his whereabouts few months time before Vic's death.

They couldn't be on that bad of terms, given he invites you in for dinner and all that.

Not necessarily bad terms, more along the lines of Vic not finding the other guy noteworthy enough to remember.

And the plantation guy, considering his preachy manipulative personality, wouldn't pass up a chance to persuade Steele Jr. to his way of thinking or atleast gain enough trust from Steele Jr. to leverage that out somehow. Being anything other than polite and welcoming would be a detrimental to those ends.

Add to that the fact that anything other than having a thick veneer of sophistication layered over his bastardry would go against the nature his prototype AND the way NS usually rolls.

I assume Anno got sent there to meet up with the player. I think Victor planned the probe locations and wanted to make sure the player met Anno... Also to make sure that she would get the position in Steele Tech (and by the player's side) she deserves once the whole ''probe-race'' deal is over with and Jill is the newly added bitch to the player's harem of girls. That, or Vic got mad at her for not wanting butt stuff..?
