Am I done with the game?

After a thoroughly embarrassing amount of time put into my game, I think I've done everything there is for me to do with my main character. All the quests I can find to trigger are either Completed or have the "this is as far as this quest progresses for now" text on them; I don't know what's left to be done, since my understanding is that the game's final conflict hasn't actually been coded yet. I could go back and play again with another character, but it seems underwhelming to redo all sorts of quests and re-recruit all the companions and re-purchase or re-farm all the items. What can I do to reinvigorate my interest level? Or should I just put the game way for a few months and then come back with a fresh perspective?

Story-wise the game has finished Act One (of presumably three) and we've just started getting some content for the second act in the Glacial Rift. The big stuff in the second part of the game is going to be Khor'minos which is set to roll out over the next year and a half or so, so it's gonna be a very long time before the game is anywhere close to 'done' as far as content goes. A few months will see you some new content for sure and maybe that will include the beginning of a new Act Two zone, but given the way things get added you shouldn't expect it to all represent linear progression. By way of example, outside the Glacial Rift the largest bits of content to be released since the Winter City and the end of the Act One story have been the conclusions to Act One quests like Harboring a Fugitive and Cat Call, the implementation of companions who've been waiting in the wings for some time like Arona and Azzy and new NPCs added to existing areas.

Given the amount of variety the game has in scenes, one thing you might try is a new Champion who can access scenes your current one can't. I can't say what sort of character you have now so I can't really give suggestions but I feel pretty confident that there's stuff you won't have seen. If you have Brint, try doing a run with Brienne (or vice versa) or Domrona vs Subrona, change how you interact with Kasyrra, play around with different classes or power selections if you've been focusing on one... there's a lot of possibilities.

For whatever it's worth, I run a whole bunch of Champions in parallel with different gameplay and roleplaying hooks so each one goes through the game a bit differently and between them all I've probably got at least one character who can unlock any given bit of content while staying in character as I've imagined them. I find this keeps things interesting for me.

And yet, my champion is at max level, as are all the companions I enjoy playing. I resorted to playing the companions I dislike just to delay the point at which XP would be utterly worthless to me; even that process is just about over, not to mention really boring.

Yeah, I've noticed some new stuff being added, but obviously it takes less time to play than it does to code, so I'm still kinda losing the race against you guys (this being a tortoisey kind of race where you lose by going faster - the Red Queen would approve).

Did Brint for a long time before making Brienne; all encounters with Kasyrra are done as far as I can tell, and I accidentally cheesed Arona off and she left the game (though frankly I won't miss her, it was a pain in the neck to find her ten or so times, given that Byvernia turns up about five times as often). I even busted Kiyoko out of the Astral out of sheer boredom, even though I'd rather have kept her there (dream lover you can find from anywhere in the world, that's way better than having to Waypoint your way to her whenever you're lonely, or waste one of your two companion slots just for a waifu). What *other* such switchpoints are available? I don't mean to sound like an ingrate, I know you guys work real hard to create this magnum opus, but I just feel like I've Marioed my way past so many Bowsers that there's just no point anymore. It's not that the game is too easy or too hard, it's just...actually it's kinda randomly both of those at various times, and it's frustrating to deal with the inconsistency.

I find that the game often gets in the way of me doing such roleplaying stuff. Not sure I should elaborate, as it might sound like I was bitching at the creator; suffice to say that there are many cases in which the Champion automatically performs actions, or consents to have actions performed on zem, which I would never have written if the character was appearing in a story under my authorship.

Obviously it's a matter of personal preference. If you're not digging it and you're not interested in playing further, it's not like we're going to shout at you until you start another hero. Personally I have a bunch of 'finished' heroes - all current quests and companions, max exp for everyone, a thriving nursery the envy of all the Frost Marches, etc - that roleplay different choices and target different content. Playing through new content through different perspectives keeps me engaged even though it's much faster to play through new shit than it is to code it. But if you want to take a break and come back when there's a whole bunch of new shit coded that's cool as well.

No they're not. The game isn't even halfway done.

Updates to the game come out every month. If you're like me and are tired of updating the game once a month for another few hours of gameplay, wait longer. Give it a couple months, then play.

The game may be done, but until I'm allowed to exceed level 6, my main can't improve any further.

I don't want to give the impression that I don't like the game, because for the most part I do. I'm just looking for tips on how to keep enjoying it, when my main has hit a wall and the prospect of starting another is somewhat less than appealing.

I mean there's only so much you can expect in a half finished game. You will run out of things to do, and numbers to watch go up. You either just play around with builds and min/maxing like some do, or start another character and explore things in the story you probably didn't do.

It's all on you to find ways to entertain yourself. Or don't. And go play something else until the game updates, like everyone else.
