Adding to Existing Sex Scenes

Hey all,

My question/idea is basically the following: would it be taboo, or too much work for the coders, to write small additions for sex scenes already in the game so they account for things that a player might have -- like Naga or Taur bodies, or Ovipositors, for example -- but that said scenes might not include, or gloss over? Stuff like just adding a paragraph or two for, say, Penny's BJ scene that helps it accommodate Taurs or something (if it doesn't already) -- is that too much?

(Like, logistically, I can see it being a problem in terms of crediting what author wrote what part of the scene, and maybe getting permission to add stuff to something an author considers 100% complete might ruffle a few feathers; but I'm just thinking out loud here.)

Or, even if it's more work: is it just better to write the additional scene as something separate and make it a distinct entry in the sex menu?

There is no simple answer here.

If you want to do such changes to existing scenes, it would be much better if you code it. First, such things usually require breaking into existing code logic. If the text block you want to change is not static, it would likely require some logic forks to be written. Second, adding minor changes is quite boring and time-consuming.

Optional scenes are usually replacing generic scenes in the case when generic are not fitting specific body types and has same type (mounting scene usually would replace dick fuck scene for taur on taur action) or added as separate entries if they are very body specific and have no counterpart for other body types (like "centaur ride" scene for ganrael).

If more people express that this would be okay to do, I fully plan on using the github data as the basis for finding where it'd be best to insert X or Y. I'm also not focusing on minor changes like "Noting that a PC has a Tail in a scene where the Tail is glossed over," but more like, again using Penny as an example: "Penny's Shower Scene now accounts for Taur Bodies (if it doesn't already), and has her get down on all fours to either service you orally or let you mount her," -- stuff like that.

Go right ahead. Stuff like that will get in, it's just that nobody seems to want to write it.

I'm not sure that the authors of the characters will be 100% okay with a relative nobody writing scenes for their characters, but it worked for me, so take your chances and ask.

IMO writing additional sex scenes for characters is super-duper groovy. It's when people wanna add character expansions (new dialogue/quests/giant BDSM xpaks/etc.) that authors can kinda get antsy.

I'm def. trying to finish the two projects I have before I even think about it -- I think having a purple tint to my name will make people feel better about it.

What Savin said. As long as the writing quality's alright you'd be doing God's work.

Thanks to both of you!

giant BDSM xpaks

Coding wise, adding a new sex scene to a pre-existing character's sex menu is one of the easiest things to do. You have just have to write it.

Heck, lately when people write scenes for my puppysluts I've been coding them myself! Fun times ^_^

no idea really except for the fact that you're quite protective of your characters and that comes off as meaning you won't let anyone else write for them *shrug*

Not really? Outside of characters I'm actively planning xpaks for (like Syri, Reaha, etc.), anyway -- the reason being that if someone else writes a big xpak for them, then *I* have to account for their stuff too, and there's a progressively higher likelihood of their plans and mine coming into conflict. That's the biggest reason I slap people away from things like "Anno Futa Expansion Whooo!!!" or "Let's get Shade pregnant! :DDD" -- that all makes more work for me, and if I wanted to deal with that sort of content on the character in the first place, I'd just write it myself.

But ultimately, that all boils down to the common courtesy of "Hey, talk to an author before you start writing out a big expansion to his character!" Saves everyone a lot of headache and wasted effort in the end!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to coding in this Anno scene someone wrote :3

Helspawn?

My offer stood right up to the end of Corruption of Champions that someone could write up scenes for her.

Foxxling did on commission, as I recall, but Gednoxo determined they weren't up to snuff, so they never got in. That's a quality assurance issue (something I know a not-insignificant part of the community has issues grasping), and while I agree with the call, I ultimately wasn't the one to make it anyway.

But, too late now! Game ded, wouldn't get added even if somebody pooped out the Great American Novel of porn. le shrug

What about for the mods? CoC is ded but the mods still live. Would Helspawn content be approved for inclusion in the mods if it met quality standards? The current impression seems to be that you wouldn't which is likely why it was assumed that you didn't want anyone touching your TiTs characters either.

Yeah, except I find the mod repugnant on every level. So no thanks. Whoever would theoretically do such quality work is welcome to spend their time on writing something actually productive, rather than having their work associated with something that shits out content like...

Because I sure as shit don't want my name, much less my work, dragged through literal creative feces.

Also what Misty said.

So the gist, from what I've gathered, is thus: Reach out to the dev in question about the character/scene in question, work out a feasible plan, write it up within framework provided, and if it appeals it'll be coded in.

Oh and mentioning the mod is like calling Tonks Nymphadora, very important point that.
