About Corruption

What is your opinion on the current corruption system? I personally think the content involving the corruption stat has been a bit lackluster for 2 main reasons.

As a storytelling device:
- There is a handful of interaction and item requirements that check your corruption stats but I think we need a bit more of these.
- You are heavily encouraged to be nice since you get access to way more content for being nice to NPCs.
- There isn't any good reason for trying to have high corruption (other than a title) since there isn't any tempting interaction that requires you to do so.

As a way to deter a player from being an ass:
- I have several playthroughs with high corruption and it basically changes nothing. I can still play through most of the content with little to no consequences.

With the Closter and Tainted Witch in the game, it is really to change your corruption and not being log out of most options. So I think there is a lot more that could be done involving corruption.

What do you guys think of this? Do you agree or I am just being dumb and missing the point here.

You might find this topic (and the main design doc) useful reading. Of particular note is Wsan's comment (which you can find other writers saying elsewhere on the forum) about how Corruption is new in Savarra and we're only just hitting the point in the plot where it makes sense for it to start playing a bigger role.

On your other points:
- There are more than you probably think. Someone with access to the code could tell you exactly how many.
- Because of the way the parsers work, there's almost exactly as much content for more corrupted Champions as there is for 'nice' ones (the '[pc.dcb]' check which also covers Bimbo PCs). In terms of gated content, there's a Bad End gated behind having Corruption high enough that you have to grind for it in the Wayfort and there are non-Bad End checks for it as well, including several in the Land of Milky Honey quest related to both the corrupt way to start and finish it, a Palace of Ice sex scene that won't show up unless you're really corrupt etc. There will undoubtedly be tons more later, but see that first point again.
- See previous comment, there's quite a bit of content gated behind Corruption, you just don't seem to have noticed it. The entire Dark Knight personality is Corruption-based and that affects practically every scene in at least some small way.

On the 'deter a player from being an ass' thing, read that topic and the design doc. You're missing the point of Corruption if you think it was ever meant to do that.

For a point of reference:
There are approximately 400 instances of isDK, 600 instances of DCB, and 82 of corruptionRange. There's a LOT of things we do in the writing that shape the content you see, even if you're not paying enough attention to notice.
In additional, there's a range of other interactions you may well have missed, from being corrupt enough to grope Cait without having fucked her to skipping the fight with the painted demon entirely—not to mention the imp night encounter—there's more going on than you might realize.

There's also going to be more. We're at the point now where it can matter more because demons can be interacted with and the PC can potentially start doing the really corrupt shit.

I'll also add: they're huge fucking TFs—larger by far than any of the ones currently in game, if I had to guess. There's a lot to look forward to, but it also means I have to be that much more meticulous in my reviewing.
