When asked about "Kobolds", Lyric says:
"Most ‘brown' metals, like copper and brass, are edible but they're strictly a last resort – it'd be like you eating leaves off a tree to survive. And finally, we can't eat alloys like bronze, because they're too tough for us to chew through."
Brass is an alloy (copper + zinc) like bronze (copper + tin) and given both alloys can contain several other contaminants they can end up being very similar one another (some bronzes are about as soft as brass, others are harder than some steel and so on...). If kobolds can't eat bronze, then they shouldn't be able to eat brass either.
