Just gonna go down the list here.

Curved Blade: "This weapon is made for chopping through light armor with its crushing blows." , but it's damage type is penetrating instead of say, chopping, slicing, or the like.

Battleaxe: "--though it's not particularily good against armored foes.", I'm no balance expert but everything else aside from the poleaxe in the blacksmith's shop has lesser armor penetration than the weapon supposedly not that good at it. It does 15, poleaxe does 25 but does mention being good at chopping through armor. Like the curved blade, it also does penetration damage. Not often y'get stabbed by an axe, yeah?

Poleaxe: Penetration damage listed m'dude, it's an axe on a stick!

Shortsword: This was is also labelled as penetration, which is entirely possible, just wanted to be sure it's not supposed to be a different damage type since it's a sword, not a dagger, spear, or arrow.

Edit: Oh!! And Francisca also penetrated despite being a throwing AXE.
Edit edit: Also Blade Staff, which is basically just a halberd, does penetrating damage.

Um, buddy, I think it's pretty much a port-over of TiTS weapon and armor mechanics. There is no slashing damage, just penetrating for bladed weapons and crushing for blunt weapons. That's just the way it is, there's no third kinetic damage type. And whether it's being swung or driven into your foe, it's still penetration.

This exactly. If the weapon primarily uses a sharp edge, something meant for penetrating skin, the weapon will do penetrating damage. We make no distinction between slashing, stabbing, or hacking. It's basically edged vs blunt for penetrating vs crushing.

Should Penetrating be changed to Cutting damage and others to Crushing?
