A suggestion for this would be imitate a Pitcher.  Since pitchers can't move but have tentacles, they could potentially drag prey in that way if they're close enough.  PC could grab some vines and use them to try to hook onto the naleen.  Naleen hunt zil, vanae, and the frog-girls, but maybe not...
