He's there because, as far as I know, he isn't finished. He will be a recruitable character in future releases, but right now, he shows up because there isn't any (non-cheating) way to beat the Warband without him. I assume Savin&Co didn't want to force characters a defeat, so they just loaded...

I've checked all of the body types, for all of the races (but not ever race-gender-body type, just random combinations). No matter what you choose, the PC is described as having 'boyish' or 'tiny' hips. I'm 70% sure that is dependent on thickness, and since 'Overweight', 'Bear', 'Plush'...
