You can enter the room to access the probe and "scan" the code without ever defeating the shock hopper. This doesn't actually unlock the next planet or let you steal the ship but it seems strange that you can do that. If it means anything I skipped the Feruze fight by being friends with the Rats.

Doesn't matter if you have been disarmed in some way or not nor if you have Quickdraw, cannot change weapons while in battle. A few builds ago it had been working, not sure what changed.
