Anno is basically cheating. Unlike all the doctors I've had a hand in: she's a crew member. she has no real flaws. her having a doctorate is an ancillary detail, not a core part of the character. Savin wrote her, so she's instantly more lovable. I'm not sure how anyone else could win.
