I do like KH games.
But yeah, I'm always a somebody in my eyes. Because I'm myself. I'm doing the best I can do. That's enough, regardless of if the community agrees that I'm someone of worth.

Yes, you'll certainly make the greatest crabcakes.

You're not really getting the point of the game, are you?

In all honesty, as bad as the future in this game is, it's still got the dream world of any sci-fi buff. It's not so bad if you think about it that way. You still travel the stars. Who knows what's at the end of the planet rush. Maybe you walk with god or find a planet devoid of war and fertile or maybe you just enjoy the ride out there. And tell everyone you did it.

TBH it's not really THAT much of a dystopian setting. Normal people only really get fucked over if they try to take out loans for large purchases like mods and can't repay them (just like real life). Everyone else that isn't a rusher seems to be pretty normal if you want to live that kind of life. Aside from the (temporary) widespread chaos that always comes with settling new territory and just the horrific concept of mandatory Treatments on New Texas in general, the TiTS universe really isn't all that different from our own, it just has way more advanced tech. The main difference is just that 99.99% of the population is completely obsessed with sex, and that's more of a law of their reality because they exist within a porn game than something classically "dystopian". Considering how easy it is to make money through jobs like mercenary work and how easily that money steamrolls into more money and safety when you buy better gear, I'd honesty love to live in the TiTS universe assuming I could undergo the same education every Steele goes through so I could start out as a Tech Specialist and have half a clue about how to survive in the universe to begin with. As long as you adhere to basic common sense and don't try to piss off any space pirate lords or masturbate directly in front of a very...opinionated lizard man, you'll probably be fine. Considering how amazing the technology, sex, and feeling of adventure would be, I'd say it's well worth it.

You make a fair point. If I lived there I'd probably be happy for a little while. In a dystopian society I would NEVER be happy, ever.
But there's a little more than just loan sharks, and mind-altering-controlling gene-splicing. There's still the slave trade and inhumane experiments and racism in the universal police. So yeah, it's not a pure shitty life. But if I was there I wouldn't be that happy about it. Just like I'm not happy about hearing people suffering in our world right now.

But yeah it's tempting to think about. It's an era where hi-tech stuff is real. Where you can go to another planet like driving to the movies. And even someone like me, who's not a beauty queen or super model, could probably find someone who liked him for him. That is an attractive fantasy.

I meant forum avatars. Sorry for not being more specific!
...yeah, I'm not gonna like my new life. Pretty sure I'd end up with some serious gender dimorphism and I know I couldn't handle New Texas IRL.

You wouldn't have to go to NT right away. You could go to any other world until you got used to it.

Gender Dysphoria, dimorphism is the differences between two things, such as males and females of the same species.

I think the rat old man in COC is based off Futurama's Farnsworth.
And a lot of comedy from the silly mode is likely a nod to Monty Python or that old indie computer game Dink Smallwood.

If I was my Steele character, I would feel so powerful! Designed to be intimidating, dexterous, intelligent, adaptable, powerful, and my body is one giant aphrodisiac fountain so even in a situation I lose physically I will win chemically in the end.

If I was my profile pic, well I would be able to control body weight, glow in the dark, breathe underwater, and use 10 powerful tentacles... I wouldn't be my Steele but I think she could manage too.

I guess since COC1, 2, and TITS are sci-fi and fantasy games this is a trait. But I heard pheromones and aphrodisiacs don't work IRL amongst humans.
So I always thought that the only way they could really work is with genetic modding with alien parts. Or in the COCs, with curses and spells.
That said, I never like winning that way with tease of spells like it. Only reason I used it in COC is because you can never find a place to get a options of what spells to learn. I stumbled on only two spells one for lust and one for electro-weapon powers.

I think they want your character to be OP in all the games, but I feel like you're only TRULY OP in reputation and charm as the MC.

It's a little weird. No aphrodisiac has been proven to work, but humans do pick up on pheromones; it's incredibly slight because we've evolved out of needing them, and our noses aren't as effective, but it does do something.

Now cats on the other hand will flip their shit over pheromones. See, when ants die, they release a pheromone that is both a warning signal and retrieval beacon, since ants bury the dead they need to pick up the body, but a dead ant means there's danger. Anyway, the pheromone is the same one that cats have in their oil secretions for territory marking, so if you kill some ants your cat might start thinking that spot is super familiar and they must love it, so they'll just start acting all cozy and stuff on the dead ants.

I feel sorry for animals having to be control so easily by smells. It reminds of when Einstein tried to theorize that humanity was nothing but electrical signals and chemical reactions. Maybe we that what we are but not all we are. That's why we aren't so easily control or rule by instincts or smells or going into heat/rut. That's why diminishing a woman to an animal like state doesn't appeal to me. It diminish not just her, but me too for thinking it and getting off on it.

As far as current evidence goes that is exactly what we are. And we are just as easily controlled, not by smells or anything but with the right sequence of experiences it might as well be the same. Instincts are a very real presence in human lives. If you haven't noticed by now, humans are slaves to dopamine. They who control what the excites, entertains, or pleases the public controls the world. It's why some games or habits are so damn addicting, they rely on how your hormones work in an investment/reward system and have hooked many people for life. Through the dopamine reward system you can make anyone do anything. It is also the only reason the blue whale challenge works. It relies on someone who is vulnerable and with every completed step they are congratulated, rewarded with false affection as they get addicted to being told they've done good, once they're in deep it's almost impossible for them to get out on their own.

Not only that, but social engineering is an incredibly cheap and efficient way to control the weak-willed, those that "don't want to rock the boat", and everyone in between. It is, quite frankly, genius, how social media controls the very mindset and thought patterns of the vast majority of people. It drives a narrative, one curated by those in power to keep them in power and most of those in the net are unlikely to notice they've been hooked. They'd also retaliate against any opposing narratives quite viscerally, almost as if they rely on the curated one to be true for their own lives to have any meaning or worth. As the saying goes, "it is easier to fool a fool than to convince a fool that they've been fooled."
