It seems, that his helmet is mentioned only in the bad ends. Perhaps the scene (and combat) texts need to be updated accordingly to give more info about the helmet? And do you think he should drop it, if you beat him?

Maybe. At the time, it seemed like it would be a pretty neat unique item.
